The whole community is upset/pissed about the lack of a national dex. We're paying more money for fewer features, all because GF was too lazy or didn't have the time/resources to implement every model into the game. Pokemon has the potential to do better, but once GF did that annual release thing for each game, quality went down tremendously. I remember how DP were delayed for a year, and how the games still ended up like shit. Imagine what would happen if these games weren't delayed. SWSH is probably in that camp: a DP-level game that should have been delayed to at least be slightly better than it was.

Assuming you mean Diamond and Pearl (I don't know what else you would be referring to), what are you talking about? Gen IV was probably the last good generation, with Gen V being alright but flawed, and it going downhill from there. I only started going on /vp/ in Gen V so maybe there's something this specific community had a problem with that I wasn't aware of, but I remember Gen IV feeling like a genuine innovation from Gen III, maybe the last time it felt like that rather than just cheap gimmicks.

Not him, but Diamond and Pearl suffer harshly from being the first mainline DS games and it shows. Platinum is a solid 9/10 game and is leagues and bounds better than DP. I love gen IV too, but DP did a terrible job at it and only Platinum saved that Gen. Something that XY didn't had the luck of having (a third game that revises the previous ones, I mean).
