mario maker 2 was set to have a similar problem with inability to play with friends, but they spun super fucking quick on that and everyone seems pleased enough.
nintendo has been damaged a few times in recent history, and they obviously haven't forgotten that. this will be an enormous blow to pokemon. a couple million sales is a lot for any other game title, but pokemon regularly gets tens of millions. if they have single-digits at the front of their six zeroes, that's a big enough drop to make everyone turn their heads. lgpe only just barely broke that, and this game is currently set to sell less.
they are, in fact, in full damage control.
