For all the problems Diamond and Pearl had, Platinum genuinely did alleviate a lot of them and showed at least back then GF listened to feedback.
I'd be perfectly fine with a regional dex only thing if they did like gen 7 where they open up the pokebank a month or so later to give everyone plenty of time to try the new pokemon before bringing in the rest.
The idea of all battles being double battles like in the GC games was genius and I'm sad the mainline games never tried it as a mode.
Hidden abilities was an objectively good thing for the game because it created viability in a lot of shitmons. My only complaint is the way you get HA is retarded, it should be a random chance from breeding regardless of whether or not the parent has it.
Gen VI had the best online system, PSS was perfect.
Gen 1 is amazing purely because it came from people who had no idea what they were doing and never made a game like it before. Objectively it is the worst gen but you have to look at it by the standards of the time.
90% of Gen VII's problems would go away if the game wasn't so cutscene-heavy, because it's a nice region with a good variety of pokemon and did enough little things to differentiate it from what came before.
