>>39233189Overall, if GF wasn't a bunch of assholes only in it for the shekels releasing half-assed games yearly for max profit, then XY would've been their actual Magnum Opus. It literally just needed some 9 more dev months, and those missing months can be easily noticed in the rushed script among other actual objective details, like the unused overworld Pokemon animations or the fact that Zygarde's moves were in the code and proved that they could've either waited to put all the features in the game given time, or the Z version it deserved.
This in turn made me realize just how lazy S/M were in comparison. As previously stated, most of the groundwork in terms of models, engine and animations was already laid out. The amount of new Pokemon added remained small, so they didn't have to worry about it much. All they had to do was make X/Y with actual good script and characters in a good region, but they failed horribly at that by giving us, in their own words, a region with many bite-sized pieces meant to satisfy only the most ADHD-ridden children, a side effect of another big problem the games had: The Emulation of its competitors.
Many say that The Simpsons went to shit because it they originally DEFINED Pop Culture, while newer seasons were defined BY Pop Culture. In the process of trying to gain back audience they feared lost to Yo-Kai Watch, they began to lose their identity and only whored themselves out for a quick buck. Gameplay features were gimmicky in a bad way. Bottom screen returned to uselessness and online services became cluttered and stupid. Characters DID improve over its predecessor, but still not to at least B/W's level. Z-moves feel WAY more inconsequential than M-evos, both gone now.... It overall added the least to the series.
The reason why Sw/Sh seem to be disappointing is because they're making the same mistakes and not doing much to make up for them. I'm willing to give them a shot, but i'm way past thinking GF are competent at their job
