Interesting survey, I'm honestly surprised so many people who took it aren't even considering buying it right now. I wonder how the statistic will change as we get closer to release and more information gets out. Hopefully they don't buy into the whole "you'll buy it anyways" narrative that some are trying to push.

You can make shitmons viable without mega evolution through stat and move tweaks.
Basically requiring one of the few mega-compatible mons in your team in order to perform well is shitty design and ruins team flavor.

imo Megas were good for shitmons because it gave them a huge boost that seemed more in line with what the games would allow. Randomly buffing a shitmon's stat by like 30 is gonna seem kinda weird, especially if it was a specific stat spread for a reason (e.g. Spinda would be hard to buff because it's stat spread is all 60s)
Unfortunately Megas were also given to a lot of already-good mons. Some megas on already-good mons are actually WORSE because they take up the mega slot, or reduce a stat to increase another stat by more (e.g. tyranitar and garchomp respectively).
I was personally not a fan of Z-Moves at all, though. It made predicting what held item some mons had way too hard. I distinctly remember once losing a game on Battle Spot to a Jellicent that I though would be running something defensive like Leftovers, only to get smashed by a Hydro Vortex or whatever it's called.

Gee, I wonder why.
I also wonder why GBA ROM hacks are so popular. I mean, they have really shit graphics--being on the GBA and all. It's almost like the graphics and new Pokemon aren't what most people play Pokemon games for, but rather its gameplay and region!
