Anyone else have an ephiphany after the blatant laziness of LGPE and SWSH that Gen 7 really wasn't all that bad.

>Visuals were still a step up for the series with somewhat realistically proportioned 3d models on humans being a first.

>Really put more work into giving its region a distinct personality more than any title except the Orre games
>Wanted tell a story deeper than outright good vs evil, instead focusing on the positives and negatives of sticking purely to tradition
>In particular, regional variants were a fantastic idea and what Megas should've been, tweaks on Pokemon that had fallen victim to power creep that don't render them hopelessly busted like MegaKhan or MegaMence

They weren't masterpieces by any stretch and cut corners in their own ways, but they were by no means an insult
