All this tells me is the situation is even more hopeless because you need to convince the entire planet's population to cease in consuming Pokemon media entirely in order to force TPC to notice the profits slowdown or turn into losses, which in turn will either lead to Pokemon's outright death due to its business model no longer in place leaving them unable to stay afloat, or they'll slow down just long enough to let GameFreak make a comeback with an actually fantastic core game before gradually speeding things back up to where they are today yet again.

Everyone already knew this. But Call of Fucking Duty has the exact same rigidity to their development cycles. You know how they got through it? They have 3 teams rotating annual releases. Each developer has 3 years to produce a game.

Pokemon is too ambitious and too large for a single developer such as Game Freak, especially one as understaffed and segmented. Pokemon needs to have multiple developers rotate the games. Have Game Freak work solely on new releases. Then have another developer work on a remake or a Let's Go version. Then have the third developer make the enhanced version of Game Freak's game.

So in a logical scenario:

2016: Game Freak: Sun and Moon
2017: Developer 1: Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee
(remake)
2018: Developer 2: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (enhanced version)
2019: Game Freak: Sword and Shield
2020: Developer 1: Let's Go Gold and Silver or Diamond and Pearl remakes
2021: Developer 2: Sword and Shield enhanced version
2022: Game Freak: Generation IX

Bad take. The national dex doesn't need to be cut because they are already reusing all assets and it takes next to no effort to add to the game.

And if GF knows they are on a hard deadline and short dev cycle, they shouldn't overcomplicate a gimmick like Maxing which is just a pokemon getting BEEGer. That's exactly the types of gimmicks they should be making because you can just make the model grow ingame, but to make 5 new models for each mon turning a corner cutting gimmick into a huge hassle. They should also move away from cutscene based storytelling and just have minimal stories like early games so they don't have to put too much effort into it. Gameplay should also be more focused on stuff that requires no new assets to be made but creates a high volume content like Master Trainers and battle frontiers. Or stuff like procedurally generated dungeons like the Pyramid or Mystery Dungeons. There's a ton of creative ways to legitimately cut corners while still making a good game, but Gamefreak is too inept. They've cut the paper in half instead of cut the corners and skimmed the edges.

Think of it like this - the Pokémon franchise as a whole is a train, and the carriages are the various aspects of it (anime, manga, TCG, merchandise, games, etc). Asking Game Freak to delay Sword/Shield is like disconnecting the back carriage from that train mid-journey. The rest of the train isn't gonna' stop, and so now the entire thing is out of whack.

Yes this sucks, but that's just the shitty unfortunate situation we as Pokémon fans are all in. TPCi aren't willing to change and pace this shit any differently. Say what you will about Game Freak, but they're in a terrible situation with the games as they have no choice but to cram them into a short space of time. Yes other game devs are in this situation too and manage to succeed - I'm not saying Game Freak are innocent and should be excused, just that they're not *entirely* guilty.

Regardless of whether or not there is a more optimal way to program/rig/animate models for the entire Pokédex, Game Freak have only decided to cut a bunch of Pokémon because they've chosen an inefficient way to do it and do not have the time to cover the entire Pokédex before the deadline TPCi is imposing on them.

USUM was basically giving Sun and Moon another year of development time and they only added a DLC amount of content.

LGPEA not having Sevii island? Why couldn't they do that in a year? Kanto is already laid out you don't need to reinvent the wheel for a kanto remake. It has less content than the fucking GBA remake

Sakurai, Smash Bro's darling director, lied out of his ass multiple times before when having to justify clone characters or roster cuts simply to avoid saying "the game needs to be done in time and our time is not infinite".

Masuda and Ohmori would rather come up with random retarded excuses than say the truth. In fact, considering Sun and Moon featured post-game similar to the Battle Frontier it's painfully clear that was a lie and not a true "design choice thinking of the children".

Sakurai has literally said clones are a result of development time. They're basically extra characters. In response to cuts he has never lied about his reasoning. He gave a valid reasoning for Ice Climbers not being in. Every fighting game in the world makes cuts. Sakurai has gone on record of saying he dislikes cuts. And that's part of the reason he brought everyone back for Ultimate. Sakurai technically has lied by saying stuff like "Villager can't be in Smash" and proceeding to add him next game. However that's less lying and more so changing his mind/updating his design views.

Yes Pokemon Company is also to blame but it's not like Gamefreak is helping the situation. They're not innocent victims.

They've planned aspects of gen 9 during gen 8. Probably even earlier. They probably have a huge back catalog of mons that didn't make the cut because they have too many of a certain type or too many mythicals or the gimmick of design theme doesn't quite work with the region or hardware. We see this as old as betamons and as recent as all the zygarde stuff in SM

Honestly, I'm just at that point that we should have all listened to our parents into not having had it grown this big. The brand became a leech and the company behind it, aka, blatantly called as The Pokemon Company, are always on this rigid behavior of everything always having to coincide with something, not allowing a game to be delayed or improved and allowing Game Freak to even cut corners this bad. This all could have simply been avoided by hiring more people, investing on more resources and more proper deadline management.

I just wish there was some way to help erase the franchise, even for a bit, to help it fall more into obscurity. This greed has gone on for far too long, honestly, and it shows. Back then, they could still manage it because they were bloody 2D/sprite animations, for Gods' sake.

Most of that money goes directly into TPC's budget to continue funding the anime and producing merch out the ass, so the anime can promote the merch and the merch can fund TPC so it can continue to fund the anime and produce merch out the ass, so on and so on.
It's a shitty business model that's destined to fall apart as soon as the profits stop coming in, but that possibility becomes more and more unlikely as they begin to capitalize more and more on mobileshit, especially now that they've went and made a gacha that panders to all forms of fags with too much money.

If we were to judge based on LGPE, it'd have to be a pretty big fall and bigger than all of the slight financial failures they ever had combined, considering that's the worst selling games and that barely made a dent because they still managed to sell regardless.

They can't keep this sort of thing up forever, and on the Switch, their issues are going to be more clear than ever before. They're not even really the worst selling games since the current 10.6 million figure is just the first 5 months. Add the case that they're $60 instead of $40 and that puts their revenue 5 months in to be the same as a 3DS game selling 15.9 million....which is around X/Y's lifetime sales.

If Sword/Shield sell the typical 16 million with their standard dev cycle they'll be some of the most successful games in the series history without needing to sell any better.

No, terrible management is the problem.
If you keep using the same field for your crops nonstop, they'll decline in quality and quantity over time, which is why field rotation is a thing, it gives the soil time to recover and you can keep producing crops nonstop.
And the same can be applied to videogames, if you have a strict deadline and your single team cannot take the heat, then implement rotation between studios for each game you retards.
Have one studio work on mainline, another work on remakes, a third one work on enhanced versions and a fourth one work on a filler spinoff.
That way you guarantee a Pokémon game every year and also give every game a healthy four year development cycle.
I hope this explodes on Gamefreak and TPC's face for not doing something so obvious when even fucking CoD does it.

Masuda still deserves all the shit he gets. He is the producer and one of the top guys in TPC, not only GF, so he's almost as guilty of this as Ishihara.

The small fry like Ohmori, James, Sugimori, Iwao, etc. don't really have any control over the franchise as a whole.

However, he's right in that we should stop putting all the blame on Game Freak and instead redirect part of anger and the murderous thoughts to TPC, especially Ishihara.
