I never liked mega/z moves that much but they were better than "scale up the model it powerier now".
I don't want my fucking pokemon getting big, I don't want to fight big pokemon.
It looks retarded, especially with the stupid purple aura around them.
Is Gen 9 going to literally be "darkmon" where you fight pokemon but the contrast/brightness slider on their texture has been fucked with?

So you're saying the mons that gained a mega rebalance along with a new optional design and the moves meant to let everyone have multi-purpose nuke are bloat.
But the literal "scale up the model" with a flat stat boost is not.
Dont even bring Gigantomax into this, the signature moves could have been Z-moves and the designs megas.

It seems like they not only get a big stat boost but also all their moves become z-moves, that's a lot to tank if you don't haveone of your own, at least if we still had the z-moves and megas it'd even the battlefield even if you're down a dynamax/gigantamax

but whateer their goal may be to kill competitive battling in the first place

The anon you replied to is right. There's a lot of differences with Dynamax so we aren't going to know the full effect it has on the meta until we know everything about it and actually see it in practice.
