Why do I love it so much? Like yeah it's cute but, it's BAAAD design. It's just a fluffy sheep that could fit in any cutesy game ever made, there's nothing pokemon-like about it at all. Why am I such a sucker for cute things?

Because it's safe. It's simplistic, but it still managed to get you.

It's as safe as it gets. There's no risk involved in it. But as long it attracts you, it's still doing its job as a design.

Its generic appeal could have to do with the fact of Jim Turner being on the art direction realm this time and you can tell the art style getting even cartoonier than before. It could easily blend with any regular western cartoon as well.

The reason is, we needed a cute pokemon like that, instead of those aberrations we got last gen. Ribombee was cute but not cute enough

It's not about simple, it's about being generic. Like has been said, it could fit in any sort of cartoon or game. It's not bad, it's just not very pokemon-like.

Also IDK what you mean, gen7 was packed with cutemons. grubbin, rowlet, stufful, steenee, brionne, mareanie... packed
