Okay I've heard Dray's hackroms are pretty good, so I'm gonna try the most recent one.

Gonna be a standard Nuzlocke, my only special rules is that if an event gives me more than 1 gift Pokemon, I can only pick one. This includes starters and fossils, as well as any other random events I might not know about yet.

Just defeated Barry outside of Jubilife. His Munchlax nearly defeated Knight since I was not expecting him to know a Rock type move, but he lived with a sliver of health.

You shouldn't feel any more obligated to use a shiny than anything else.
If it's good for the team, use it. If not, keep it in the box in case something dies and it would make a good replacement.
They're basically just freebie encounters.

I got a shiny Phanpy once while I already had a very strong Graveler, no reason to use it, spent the whole run boxed.

I've also found TWO shiny Shroomish while grinding with Cheryl in Eterna Forest, and the bitch's Chansey one shot both of them.

I reached Oreburgh City with only one loss (Sonic's death against a wild Spearow while being swapped), and I was feeling confident.

Then tragedy struck when while grinding in Oreburgh Mine to prepare for Roark. I lost Knight against a Builder's Machop which one shot it.

I then lost Bind thinking it had Levitate as an ability for some reason, but nope. Bulldoze to the face.

After Bind died, I didn't switch the positions in my party, and Xero was accidentally left as first, which then got fucked as I encountered a wild Trapinch with no hope of beating it.

I then AGAIN forgot to switch, but Pineco thankfully had Protect, so when Trapinch used Bide, I would Protect on the turn it unleashed, allowing me to escape unscathed.

All this and I haven't even entered the gym.

I reached Floaroma Town with no trouble, but in the Pokemon Center, trying to get my Johto starter, Spike the-then Cyndaquil one shot Lady.

He would redeem himself however by one-shotting Mars' Yanma and two-shotting her Bronzor. Unfortunately I did not leave unscathed, for Mercy died to Purugly even though she was paralyzed.

I absolutely fucked up.

I went into the Gardenia fight overconfident since Deryon, Spike, and Mistress were overleveled. The plan was to have Deryon and Spike sweep her team, with Mistress as a backup.

It was all going well, but by the time I got to her last Pokemon, Breloom, my team was all paralyzed/sleeping and that Breloom fucked my shit up. Five out of six died against it.

Oh yeah and Zipper died against Cheryl, which I didn't remember was a thing in the original, it was pretty a unexpected fight.

Thank god for the followers you can get in Platinum, that Kadabra girl really saved my ass allowing me to grind this new team relatively easy. I still no fill out that 6th spot though, I can get a fossil in Oreburgh, and there's also a route West of Hearthome where I can get another catch, but they're all types I already have or Normal.

So once I make that catch and get the fossil, I'll have to make a choice, because Fantina is the next roadblock. Fuck.

Found my bro, Skuntank is a beast.

I caught a Seviper who is Poison/Dark in this rom, but his stats are lower than Skuntank's, so I whipped that Stunky into shape and turned him into a big boy. It also gets Flamethrower outta nowhere, so that really helps with my move coverage.

I was thinking of turning my Eevee into a Flareon because this mod makes Flareon good, but with Skuntank I don't know anymore, I think I'll keep saving the Eevee for when a crucial member dies or something, so I can try to cover for its type.

Thanks,yeah I try to use them because it's so much fucking fun nuzlocking with shitmons.
Have to use items though because some like luvdisc are totally useless or too gimmicky like Wobbuffet.
Some suprised me though,like Seviper,Mawile,Ledian and Dunsparce.
If I manage to get Abra I'll trade it for Mr Mime in Route 2

Nice. I've used some of these before. Mawile in Ultra Moon surprised me. Steel/Fairy with Intimidate is insane even with stats worse than Butterfree. Mr. Mime is pretty viable too, though I used it in X with Fairy typing.

I died. After leveling up for countless hours and having about 52 dead pokemons, I lost the nuzlocke due to PP stalling, protecting and dragon dancing. :)

Forgive me RNGesus, for I have been too cocky. All was going well during my first gym badge. I had no deaths until I reached Virbank City. In Virbank Complex, I caught an Elekid which I named ONI. Since I had nothing better to do, I headed to the gym to beat the trainers for free EXP. HORRIGAN was underleveled at the time, so I sent him in to evolve into a Pignite. This decision bit me in the ass as a Koffing unceremoniously discarded of my Tepig while it survived with a sliver of HP. The heartbreak doesn't end here. After the death of my Tepig, I grind my mons and BTFO Roxie and Team Plasma without any deaths. When I reach Castelia City, I immediately rush to Route 4 to catch something. I luck out and find a Darumaka, so I send out ONI. ONI proceeds to get one shot by a crit Headbutt, but it gets caught. After that fiasco, I go to the sewers to BTFO Team Plasma again and catch a Zubat. Going to the patch of grass in Castelia City, I find an Eevee and waste most of my Pokeballs trying to catch the damn thing before I decide to cut my losses, and head for Relic Passage. The first mon I encounter is a Roggenrola which gets a lucky rock blast off and kills the MVP of my party, RED ROCKET the Herdier. I can probably recover from this. At least I have four good Pokemon to use against the Gym.

Finally took care of Erika, but not before doing what I usually do, which is blast through the plot (Rocket Hideout, Pokemon Tower) to quickly sneak my way down to Fuchsia to collect all the goodies, also made my way to the Fishing Guru on Route 12 by way of Vermillion to pick up the Super Rod, which resulted in us getting two Poliwhirls, one which is now our Poliwrath Polyglot and one which was traded for ZYNX the Jynx, who singlehandedly blasted through Erika's gym

Unfortunately we lost Porque along the way, goddamn crit Selfdestruct from a lvl 26 Koffing, can't wait to get to the Explosion nerf in Gen 5, I swear

I started X nuzlocke with the following conditions additionally:
- switching inbetween trainer Pokémon disabled
- no items in battle
- starter is released ASAP
- no grinding to higher levels than the enemies
- no legendaries
- no megas (?)

I’ve heard X is easy to nuzlocke, so it should be doable

This can cost you because besides the broken gifts it's easy to load up with redundant or shit Pokemon. Without Exp Share it's a bit tougher as well since you actually have to grind and you're not just super overlevelled. Also ordinary trainers have coverage out of the ass, the bosses are easy by comparison besides maybe Lysandre's Mega Gyarados, which is hard to defeat without losing something along the way.

Surge as usual was a useless fuck.
Defeated him easily with Migi and Dig.
Also,while getting to Celadon everyone has evolved.
Since I couldn't get an Abra from Route 24/25 I literally bought it from the Game Corner,backtracked all the way to Route 2 and did that trade.
So yeah,now I've a lvl 9 Mr Mime and I have to grind a fuckton but whatever,after all I have what I wanted so I'm happy.
But I'm going to catch a Ditto. THIS IS THE TIME.
By the way,I changed from the sprites to Mistery Dungeons portraits because why the hell not and they make it seem more like a good 'ol RPG.

I pulled a Tentacool from Shalour City (wasn't sure if I should count it separately from Tower of Mastery or not, but went for it anyway) and a Magikarp from Parfum Palace, which I just now learned you could actually fish from.

The last Eevee would normally come from a trade you would have with the hotel maids, but I just caught one in Route 10. Of course I did catch something on that route beforehand, but for the sake of simplicity and not resetting my 3DS clock four times, I just did this. It took about a day's worth of grinding (Day Care Center is a life saver) and now I'm just about ready for the Elite 4.

This is quite literally everything I have left. No more routes, and no more alternative options. My last hurrah, this is the endgame.

Lost Tentacruel to a critical hit Stone Edge from Malva's Torkoal, but Skul sweeped the rest.

Momo got mad gains from Bulk Up and snu snu'd Wikstrom.

Fighting Drasna was relatively easy, Sasy beamed and blizzard while Skul intimidated her Druddigon.

Siebold was interesting, the battle was a stalemate up until Momo bulked up and took out Barbaracle. Sadly her Gyrados managed to Dragon Dance and take out Momo, but I beat him nonetheless.

And then I'm left four injured Pokemon against Diantha. She almost completely washed me, I took out Aurorus but her Hawlucha was just too strong at this point, I couldn't do anything after it pulled off Swords Dance.

And that's a wrap, now what should I play next...

Started my 4th Renegade Platinum because I'm a stubborn bastard. 2 were wipes and 1 was me fucking up the save file.

I picked Turtwig this time, and he absolutely wrecked Roark's shit, nearly sweeping the gym by itself, with Lupin coming in to Crabhammer the Bonsly for good measure.

I started using the Poke Radar, as well as switching the clock in my PC so I get different mons this time around, netting me some cool mons like Terror (Radar), and Zoomy (Night time). I also started using the rod where I know the Pokemon in the grass are either type repeats or just too weak, which is how I got Lupin.

I'm not gonna get wiped this time, ;_;

This is a pretty big update, but I'll just inform you guys of the important stuff. I caught a bunch of mons, beat Elesa with only one death, proceeded to beat Charles with no deaths, evolve a few of my mons, and am currently in Clay's gym. From here on out I actually have a full set of six with mons to spare in the which is pretty cool.

You don't HAVE to do anything, you follow whatever rules that makes the run the most fun for you, nothing except the three standard nuzlocke rules are required for it to be a nuzlocke, but just know that doing things like using megas and keeping the exp share on at all times will most likely make things too easy and therefore boring
At the end of the day, Pokemon games are meant to be able to be beaten by children, adding rules and restrictions makes things harder and therefore more interesting for older people

Well I'm pissed. SONORA was undoubtedly the MVP of Clay's gym battle. In fact, he was probably the reason nobody died. Not even my sacrificial free switch in Liepard fell, but that's not the reason why I'm P-O'd right now. While doing a little Audino training session. My Boldore needed a boost in levels, so he killed a few Audinos which got him around the level I wanted, but I was greedy. I wanted him to go up just one more level, so in my infinite wisdom, I took him into Route 6 during in game Winter. Just like any other time, an Audino appeared! It proceeds to kill to ROCKSTAR in the most RNG bullshit way. First, it pops off an attract which. Then, it uses Secret Power to put ROCKSTAR to sleep. All the while, hail whittles away at both of their health. When ROCKSTAR wakes up, it's too in love with the Audino to attack it while Audino marginally peppers it with Doubleslap. After a whole few turns of not attacking ROCKSTAR goes back to sleep because of Secret Power. At this point, ROCKSTAR is in the low yellow, so I'm confident he can wake up and Rock Slide the Audino. Then, hail puts him into the red. "If Audino gets somehow gets ROCKSTAR's health into KO range, I'll just switch him out." To add a cherry on top of this shitstained pie, Audino uses it's Double Slap attack, it gets not one, not two, but THREE critical hits on Boldore, and then the hail kills it. I've had catastrophic strings of deaths before and more important Pokemon have died, but this particular death just angers me because of how unlucky it was. This death is also almost entirely my fault, but those three critical hits sealed Boldore's fate. RIP, ROCKSTAR. After you killed my MVP, you became my MVP.

Whenever I lose heavy hitters I turn on experience share for XY. The trainer count feels very low and the wild Pokemon are weak until late game, and lots of mid-late game trainers have coverage, so being underleveled isn't really viable.

I'm not sure how that works with the Alola games though, I imagine they're better about it.

I'm back again. Has been leveling up my Milotic and mutating berries during these slower days. Also, new art for most of the mons.

Ashley sets up Light Screen and gets hit by Aerial Ace. Psyshock does a number on Emolga, but it scores an AA crit.
A ChestoRest puts Ashely back on good health as she takes another Aerial Ace, and a Psyshock finishes off the flying squirrel.

Mystical Fire is cockblocked from an instant kill by Sturdy, Magneton sets up Electric Terrain.
Clemont uses a Hyper Potion as Light Screen is put up again.
Just to prevent him form doing that again, I do a Psyshock to get Sturdy out of the way but not put it into the red, and Magneton strikes back with Thunderbolt.
I decide to have Ashley Rest to stall out Electric Terrain, but I forgot the critical fact that Electric Terrain stops mons from falling asleep, and Magneton slaps Ashley with Thunderbolt for my trouble. Mystical Fire ends it just as Electric Terrain wears off.

Still one turn of Light Screen, so I decide to use it to Rest Ashley back to health, and Heliolisk doesn't impress with Thunderbolt.
However, then the Screen fades, and the second Thunderbolt hits pretty hard. Better gets someone else in. That someone is Chase.
Chase take quite a bit of damage from Thunderbolt despite both resistance and Eviolite, but not enough to be unable to stay in.
He takes anothe Thunderbolt, gets put into the red... but Dig wipes out Heliolisk.

I just got to Nimbasa in my white nuzlocke, got some pretty sweet changes from the surrounding areas
-Sandile from route 4
-Scraggy from Desert resort
-Yammask from Relic Castle
-Emolga from route 5
-Solosis from route 16
-and a Petilil from Lostlorn forest
Sandile got a -speed nature which is kind of a bummer because Krookodile is a great sweeper, but it's a nice backup to have. Yammask and Scraggy are neutral so no worries there. Petilil and Solosis though, timid and rash; I may drop Pansage for her since I've never used one and I'm usually iffy on -Def/SDef natures but if it gets to Reuniclus I think he can afford it with that great hp start + recover and besides, +SAtk means he'll be shitting out damage.
Emolga's a nice flyer I guess, I'm not really big on Pikarats

We managed to take out every single land-based trainer that was left (most between Fuchsia and Lavender) and defeated most of the trainers in Silph Co before some yahoo decided to get critical fuckin hit Selfdestruct, AGAIN, meaning that we were now down one Water type, and therefore stood without a counter to Blue's lvl 40 Charizard.
So we traveled as far as we could into Route 23 to make it to the water's edge, fished up a new Poliwhirl and grinded them all the way up to level 40
Even so, I was worried that the fight against Blue might go south, which it almost did, but thanks to a heroic sacrifice by Glimmer we made it through and defeated Giovanni
Skipping over Sabrina because I'm a b-b-b-bitch, I'd prefer it if Lizl got some extra levels first, we instead traveled to Cinnabar, let Frida Kahlo singlehandedly defeat every trainer on the island, and now we're currently on One Island, ready to do some sidequesting

I made the mistake of carrying the team I planned to use against Gardenia as I was battling random trainers and wild Pokemon.
This came to bite me in the ass as a Ruin Maniac had a pretty strong Aerodactyl and I had no answer to it, or at least not one I saw at the beginning. This Aerodactyl nearly wiped me out, with only Bind surviving.
I forgot all about Bind, if I had swapped into it earlier, I wouldn't have lost any Pokemon.

Just finished a full blind PokeMMO run. Easily the most difficult of any game I have run so far (aside from difficult hacks) because of how smart the AI is, especially with switching. I also decided pass on starters and prohibit X items because those make it way too easy.

This was my team before fighting through the elite 4 three times (Unova->Hoenn->Kanto). Arbok died because I messed up with him and triggered defiant on Bisharp, but the rest made it all the way. But it was one hell of a gauntlet with bullshit like being frozen twice in a row, paralyzed by thunderbolt 3 times in a row. But oh shit Cofagrigus is a dodge hero, record 3 dodges in a row just from bright powder. What I've learned from this is run that bright powder is literally the best item almost no exceptions for nuzlocke. It also makes it more exciting watching your bros dodge like champs.

Limber just prevents paralysis, but it doesn't cure it. Like how you can send out a paralyzed Pokemon with Trace against a Pokemon with Limber and the Pokemon won't get cured by tracing Limber.
I'm guessing Lord Cyprus was transformed and had a different ability when he got paralyzed.

Mostly. Mankey/Weedle acted as my "starters" since they were the only pokemon I could've caught before the first gym. The reason I decided to continue using this shitmons is two reasons: the fun of it, and for future encounters in future games. Take the National Park in Johto for example. I really want to use a Scizor eventually, but it's rare. The pokemon I need to take to the Hall of Fame to guarantee catching Scyther are Parasect, Beedrill, Caterpie, Venomoth, and Pinsir. If I take any of those mons to the HOF, I increase my chances of getting a Scyther, I have other examples of similiar situations, but that would take a while to explain. Damn, I feel like an anime character after explaining all that. Maybe I should stop watching Death Note while I nuzlocke!

Magikarp technically counts as Route 4 and not Route 3, since Route 4 begins right outside Mt Moon. Makes no sense to me but that's how it goes. Magikarp is available anywhere with water anyway but it's still nice to get Gyarados early if you can stomach the grinding.

In PokeMMO, all important battles such as rivals/gym leaders/elite 4 all have different Pokemon and different moves, sometimes hidden abilities and items like leftovers/focus sash or even Pokemon not from the given region. This is on top of them having a very smart AI which always uses the best moves and switches on bad matchups. Most of the rest of the game is the same except you can go back and forth between 3 regions and your pokemon levels are capped based on the number of badges you have so you can never just power level 1-2 mons and steamroll the game.

If standard game nuzlockes are too easy for you, I would recommend giving mmo a try.

Well I fucked up big time. The grueling trek from Reversal Mountain to Opelucid City was one filled with tragedy and death. Overall, the amount of deaths within that short window of time are more than the casualties from the journey before that point. Due to a combination of underleveling, crits, and bad luck, Pokemon from all walks of life met the razor of death. Old timer MVPs and freshly caught mons were not safe. Luckily, some survived the treacheries of this road, so I continued pushing forward. I caught new Pokemon, leveled them up, and managed to cobble up a team worthy to beat Drayden. My Walrein and Gligar did most of the heavy lifting during the gym, and no mons lost their lives during the gym battle. Now I’m about to fight Team Plasma. Wish me luck, lads!

Done with the third gym!

Had Lupin die a random death against some random trainer, but wasn't a big deal considering I still had a lot more Water types.

What was a big deal was losing half of my team to Mira, especially Lowsy who took so long to grind from level 5, so close to evolving to Venusaur. I'm also sad about Bind, seeing as he was the sole survivor from my previous near-wipe.

I had never before intentionally used a Normal type Pokemon, but Pandido put in WORK against Fantina's ghosts, either one-shotting or two-shotting most of her Pokemon. I only had to bring out Selena to finish off the Fairy/Ghost Mismagius.

Easy peasy, no losses against her. However I'm near the farthest I've ever gotten in this romhack, Saturn in the Pokemon mansion. Wish me luck.

I also had Magoo in mind, but it just doesn't seem worth it to use up Magnemite just yet, especially since it's so incredibly useful in BW2 early game (and rest of the game, really)
Kinda the same situation with Terra, but also coupled with the fact that its Gen 3 movepool is just absolutely barren, I'd be much better off saving it for HGSS for example

Anyway, grats on finishing Blue! Don't think you have too much to worry about in Yellow really, from what I remember Yellow was heaps easier than Red and Blue, at the very least the Rival is

We did it!! And without any casualties to boot!
Lorelei was dealt with by Frida Kahlo, her Pokemon couldn't do squat to her so she just boosted up with Bulk Up and swept
Lorelei and Agatha were swept cleanly by ZYNX
Lance was dealt with by Roi, got a scare when Thunderbolt didn't manage to KO his Aerodactyl, but after a polite suggestion to stay down the rest of Lance's team was thoroughly frozen
Blue I was incredibly nervous about, but I had a plan; if ZYNX would be able to get a Calm Mind boost she should be able to sweep his whole team, Charizard included
I Lovely Kiss the Pidgeot (holding my breath as it's a 75% accurate move), Calm Mind once, and Ice Beam it
He sends out Rhydon, Ice Beam
He sends out Gyarados, I figure this will prove if I'll be able to KO his Charizard or not, Ice Beam brings Gyarados to red health, but it stupidly chooses to use Dragon Rage
As Blue uses a Full Restore I take oppurtunity to set up a second Calm Mind, which I then used to sweep the rest of his team without problem

I generally don't mind using the "lower tier" legendaries as part of a Nuzlocke as long as I'm able to catch them (see the Zapdos in Yellow for example), as long as they aren't Uber tiered in their generation I don't really think it's too cheap, especially considering I use rules that can get rough at times

Well, that went well. I used Toxic and alternating protects to beat the Slaking. The first one almost fucked it up with Yawn, but I used Baby to bait it to use Faint Attack instead of Facade. Combusken took out Vigoroth. These are something like the final movesets for my shitmons (Wurmpoo might get Silver Wind or something, and Mightyena will get Crunch). Once I get access to Mt. Pyre's Will-o-Wisping Vulpix, I should be able to sweep things with Swellow pretty easily.
Also I forgot to update Wurmpoo's level; she's 29.

pic related is my team after the fourth team. compared to my team above >>39584332, it is several times weaker and lower level -- partially, due to tragically losing pokemon on the way, partially because simply the ep-share isn't on, partially, because i really refrained from any grinding.

either way, pokemon X feels like an immense, but still doable challenge and i am convinced this is the way to go: no items, no megas, no starters, no grinding, no ep-share -- and the game becomes as hard as you want it to be, while still being possible.

Teammates that entered the Hall of Fame. In my case, for example, I finished Red with Blastoise, Jolteon, Alakazam, Chansey, Dodrio, and Machamp, so I put them in as the Champs of Red. If you're doing an Autismlocke, you can't have any duplicates in the champ slot, so I can never have a pokemon from the Abra family in my Champ teams ever again.

I mean, that's a great question. We're really enjoying making these, don't get me wrong (it's SO much fun), but it WOULD be nice to get more views - it's a time commitment to make these things, and it'd help justify spending our time that way if we knew we had an audience. So, as a bit of background, my wife works with photoshop and is SUPER talented in that area, and I'm a wedding videographer, so I have some decent audio equipment lying around and a good knowledge of how to put things together in post. The two biggest are that youtube is SATURATED with let's plays - it's a really competitive genre, and trying to make one that stands out is difficult. Similar to problem one, problem two is that I don't know how to properly get people interested in watching. I am NOT a salesman (side note, BIG problem for my wedding video business), and I don't want to go around promising people our videos are the new best thing on the internet, right? We made something, we had fun doing it, we hope you'll give it a chance, but no hard feelings if you don't. That's all I really WANT to say. So I'm being active here and in a few other places, but trying to get people to give it a shot is tough. One last thing to mention is that we've only been posting these nuzlocke let's plays since July 1st. We haven't been around that long. I sort of hope that as this goes on and we show we're not just going to drop it that we get people more interested, but I really have no idea.

But I definitely get the feeling that if we want to grow I need to step outside my comfort zone a bit more, I just don't know how. And it's not as though we want much - the videos aren't monetized (I don't think they even can be at this point), and if we had even like 100 views per video, that'd be wonderful! And we'll still FINISH, because A) We have done the VAST majority of the recording necessary for that and B) I want to be able to at least say we saw this through, but yeah. First gym leader down, and I was really close to wiping! Broakie took care of Surskit no problem. Then, Viola sent out her Vivillon, so I responded by sending out Cazador. Cazador was really lucky with Fury Attacks since she got five hits both times which brought Vivillon down to the red, but Vivillon's onslaught plus the residual damage of Infestation did a toll on her. Just beat Winona. Linoone's T-bolt took care of most of her Pokemon. Altaria's DDance was almost a problem, but I toxic'd it and then sent in Mr. "Resist things that could kill my whole team" himself, Solrock. No issues.
Chicktrax is evolved because I had him defeat wilds on route 118 while I was looking for a Kecleon (1%), so that my route 120 catch could be Barboach instead of Kecleon.

I just got to Pastoria and I'm really strapped. My two best (Staraptor and Roselia) got 1-shotted back to back by the Lucario at the last gym, now my only two viable ones are Prinplup (which is alright but doesn't have any good moves) and Gyrados (which isn't nearly as OP as I thought it would be), both of which I could easily see dying to whatever bullshit strats the gym leader's death machine mon pulls.
Are there any optional areas where I could get a grass or electric type, or at least another flyer? I was lucky enough to get a Hoothoot at the safari zone but (of course) he got critted by a fucking fisherman's Remoraid. I'm doing dupes clause so I can't get anything from the Starly/Hoothoot line, are there any Pidgeys or Spearows?

Or should I just pour a drink and start grinding?

Alright, that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought- found out Gyrados can learn Thunder and went with cheap X Accuracy strats, 1-shotted everyone except the Quagsire which was no problem.
As long as there are some new routes coming up I can deal with my limitations somehow.

So I'm an idiot. I took out Mightyena for the sake of using Dive. But I didn't realize until I was *in the middle of fighting Liza&Tate* that half my team can't touch them. I was using Solrock/Rock Slide and Linoone/Surf on them. Lunatone set up 1 Calm Mind and then OHKO'd MoneyMoney with Psychic. Then they sat there for 7 turns while I Rock Slid them to death. Didn't have nearly as much fun with this as I did the previous gens- felt like I was getting nothing but garbage mons the entire game, and had to rely on the overleveled starter and one guaranteed easy-mode choice. Grinding was a real pain since there were relatively few trainers- even when keeping only two at the front of the curve, it was hard to keep up.
Also feel personally affronted by the rival battles, two of them start with zero warning after you've been through a difficult route. Maybe "it's unfair" is cope but it really pissed me off.

Standard rules mostly. First Pokemon found, fainted = released, nicknames, 1 mon per route, no items in battle, dupes and shiny clause.

I also have a one-per-gift rule, where I can only take one Pokemon from an event whenever they occur, aka I can only pick one starter from Kanto/Johto/Hoenn and not all three, and I can only pick one fossil. I don't set level caps because then it would be impossible to win this game, not that it isn't already ;_;

This hack is pretty hard if you don't know what's coming, a lot of surprise battles, new events, modified movesets and types, and every important trainer has very DEEP move sets to cover their every weakness. They also carry items.

For example, three of Roark's Pokemon know Electric moves to counter Water Pokemon, and Cranidos knows Zen Headbutt to counter Fighting type. Gardenia's team has two mons with Electric moves to counter Flying, they got status moves out the ass, and even Rock, Ground, and Psychic type moves if you think about using something like Chimchar line or another random Fire type. It only gets worse later on, with Fantina being near unstoppable unless you have a Fairy type to counter her Spiritomb plus a Steel type to counter her Mismagius.

Oh yeah, and the random trainers that follow you in Eterna Forest and places like that? They battle you and have pretty bullshit teams that can wipe you if you didn't know they were coming. Also I'm a bit of a retard so meh.

I think it varies from game to game, but as long as your team has attacks of these types you should be good:

Electric or Grass for annoying Water types
Fairy for the Dragons
Steel or Poison for Fairies

Everything else is kind of situational.

Water is pretty much always good. Electric or Grass are damn near essential in lategame Hoenn. Fighting is really good from gen 4 onwards, especially in gen 5 which is full of Normal and Dark types. Steel is basically required for Alola's Elite Four unless you have both a Ground and a Rock type to deal with the E4'z Z-moves.

It’s pathetic that I have to ask this but:
How the FUCK do you beat Brawly’s Makuhita?
Whichever flying-type I have just does a sliver of damage then gets OHKO (or better yet the Makuhita does 2 Bulk Up then becomes even more of a death machine), then even if I grind my Mudkip to evolution it’ll only be able to withstand 1 Vital Throw, putting him in a get hit/heal/get hit/heal loop until he gets critted to death.

I want to do Emerald again but I’ve tried three times and have gotten wiped there on all of them. Are sleep/poison strats useful or is it not worth the risk of the Guts buff?

I evolved Sergei and Nikolai while training up the main team. Since Sergei has crunch and I deleted bite on Vlad, I decided to use him in the gym. He died. Vlad finished up Fantina's team after. 3 badges to go.

I really can't keep my starters alive huh. The only one that didn't die in my run was Empoleon, who defeated Fantina, but that's the run that I lost because I didn't save.

If you want to cover every single type supereffectively, you'll need Fire, Water, Electric/Rock, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Ground, Flying/Bug, Dark, Steel, and Fairy. If you go for Bug instead of Flying, you can have Ghost instead of Dark.
Not only can those 11 types hit everything supereffectively, but there's 11 of them, so you can fit them on onto one team with STAB.

2 deaths happened. it was probably because I didn't evolve my Pokémon because I wanted Magellan to learn Focus Energy and Alexander to learn Hyper Fang. I don't know why I didn't think of evolving Magellan for the ELECTRIC GYM -- my strategy was sleep powder + confusion with Catherine, which worked on the Electricians outside Vermillion but missed in the battle with Surge, forcing me to switch to... Magellan. who died.
I'm also a bit sad as I gave Rest to Alexander. that's a good TM, and now I don't have it any more. tch.

Did you ask how long the videos take to make yesterday? I thought I saw that, then I refreshed and it wasn't there. Anyway, I'd say it takes me between 3 and 4 times as long as an episode is to get it out there. Between recording, editing and quality checking, it takes a while. The editing ranges in intensity. Sometimes the episode went real smooth and it's quick to get out there. Other times we've really fucked up something in the recording and we've had to work to fix stuff. But that's after we've already sunk a bunch of time into creating all the creative assets that we use every episode, and setting up some basic standards we'll apply to every piece of recorded audio or video. So the time adds up.
