Hoenn and Kanto could transfer up to Sinnoh and Johto, which could transfer to Unova, which could transfer to Kalos. Hoenn didn't need to be remade because it was already compatible with all future games assuming they didn't do another II to III scenario. Yes, it and its hardware would one day be old and no longer easily available, but that was a fact of life. Game Freak remaking remakes to keep them relevant seemed absurd, especially since the amount that would have to be remade would grow with every release. There were still idiots who legitimately believed that
>Gen III - III and I>Gen IV - IV and II>Gen V - V, III, and I>Gen VI - VI, IV, and II>Gen VII - VII, V, III, and I>Gen VIII - VIII, VI, IV, and II>Gen IX - IX, VII, V, III, and I>Gen X - X, VIII, VI, IV, and IIand so on because they thought every game had to be remade two Gens later and earlier games had to always be kept relevant. I remember arguing with one in the early days of /vp/ and Gen V who couldn't imagine a world where older Gens wouldn't be easily available. It's an unsustainable practice.
If there was any point to stop remakes, it was after HGSS. Masuda even said that ORAS was made due to fan demand rather than any real longstanding plans like FRLG and HGSS. And it's the same case with Sinnoh. It doesn't NEED to be remade. I really loved it, but you can easily use the argument that "It and Johto aren't in the Mega universe and we need those games with Megas because that's the standard". Just let it be. How the hell would they handle BW and B2W2 without making one super large game, which we know they won't since they have yearly schedules? B2W2 only had as much new content as they did because they had a gap year prior and there were no remakes being worked on.
