fat pikachu is much cuter but clearly this artist has a bias against him because fat pikachu is depicted as a dead-eyed homonculus while skinny pikachu actually has some measure of personality.

Fatchu, getting skinny made him lose a lot of charm, which is why I prefer raichu now.
He looks cuter as a fatso, and seem to have more personality in the older seasons.
But I haven't watched pokemon in a long time so I don't know how true that is.
