I think most people gave XY the benefit of the doubt for it being the first 3D pokemon game. Like okay maybe they didn't have a good 3D engine ready, and maybe it was way more work than we realize to make all the pokemon models. XY was their one practice game.

Every game afterwards is inexcusable though.

Not that anon but I pirated the game when it leaked a week before release. I considered it shit then, I still consider it shit now. It's what you get when you throw actual level and area design out the window and put a garbage story in its place.

ORAS is definitely a massive fucking disappointment but the gen 6 breeding mechanics, horde encounters, and blissey bases made it easier than ever to breed and train great pokemon. I can't bring myself to hate it on those grounds alone.
