The story is worse but it has more thing to do. Besides USUM add lore unlike BW2 or platinum, if you play SM check everything about Necrozma and the ultra recon squad

Instead of Sun and Moon? Sure. You've got more areas to explore, more pokemon to catch, and cool stuff like move tutors and totem sized pokemon. Also the Rainbow Rocket stuff is fun. Obviously not worth it if you already own SM, but that doesn't apply in your case, so i'd say go for it.
