What’s the problem with removing mons? Why is everyone making such a big deal about it? They’re going to back in new games in the future anyway, why do you all care so much? I’ve been playing Pokémon since I was basically born in 2002 and I don’t understand why all the controversy came up in the first place.

in my opinion its not just the removal of pokemon i for one could see it happening eventually the problem is that they are basing their decision on "improving the graphics" which look exactly the same, so people are feeling lied to as in "the dex is getting a cut with nothing in compensation"

I mean, my personal issue with that in general is that I have a living dex, so I'll be forced to get Pokemon Home and continue to pay for it every year if I want to keep said living dex, which while it most likely won't be expensive, still sucks. I mean, as long as I an keep all my gen 1-7 pokemon in Ultra Moon, I guess it doesn't really matter.

My only other real issue with it is less the removal itself, and more so that GF keeps making excuses for it that are shortly after debunked, or just kinda lame. I'm not against the removal (at least not to the extent that I'd be overly vocal about it), but I feel like theres better ways to handle it. I didn't mind how things were handled in RS, or BW, so I think my main issue is that they drew attention to it.

Either way, from a gameplay perspective, I'm sure the games will be fine, but this will probably be the first time I won't bother getting a new pokemon game right away.

They didn't say the issue was space or development time, either. They said it's for balancing the game. And, giving different pokemon screen time. It's not uncommon, most games don't have every single past model in every single game. Even magic the Gathering, a card game, rotates.

The claim was that the reason for the cuts was for better animations. That might end up being the case but all we know for sure is what GF tells us right now. In the interview they explain why they decided to cut the national dex.
Theres more than enough problems with the games, misinformation isn't needed.

The game can be balanced without cutting Pokémon by simply making the problematic elements unavailable in competitive. As for giving different Pokémon screentime you don't need to remove anything for that either. All the excuses they gave are bullshit and somehow even more retarded than "it's too much work to out them in"

I can't speak for anyone else but for me the primary issue is that this franchise encourages you to feel attached to your favorite buddy.
So to have that buddy taken away after you've become attached which the game urged you to do seems cruel.

It's less about removing Pokemon and mostly about Gamefreak being lazy and removing more from every version and making more excuses for doing so. Removing Pokemon was just the straw that broke the camel's back

If they would actually improve the graphics, animation, story, characters, and postgame then nobody would care about cutting Pokemon. And not even to like maximum levels, just evenly comparable to modern games on it's own console.

Sun/Moon was a mess of handholdy gameplay, overly long cutscenes, the same animations from X/Y, and no postgame, USUM was nearly the exact same and Let's Go was even more of what made Sun/Moon bad. Sword and Shield look just as bad only with even more cut
