Why does the Pokémon manga even exist? It feels so separated from the rest of the franchise that it might as well be fanfiction.

Simply so that Pokemon has all bases covered. Video games, a cartoon, and a comic. It started only a month before the anime did.

He said that on the first volume when things had yet to go completely bullshit, not sure why people like to bring it up. If anything the anime is more faithful to the games nowadays.
