What other series give vibes similar to Pokémon? The obvious answer would probably be another monster collecting series like Digimon, but it's not just the monster collecting which drew me into Pokémon. I really feel like there's nothing left for me to like, and I'm looking to find a replacement. What are some good games and/or shows to get into, and what makes them so great?

Non ironic answer, nothing.
Pokemon is a completely unique magic all of its own, there's nothing else out there that feels like it. It's an amazing blend of common everyday life mixed in with these powerful creatures that are integrated completely into society. Everything else leans in ways that give off entirely different feelings of worldbuilding and status that just doesn't work the same way as Pokemon.
That's just my opinion though, but I've never ever found anything that scratches the itch when I want something Pokemon-like, it's just its own thing that so far hasn't been replicated.

This, entirely. And it really is a shame. Yes, there are other JRPGs with a wide variety of monsters, some of which even let you capture/recruit them. But nothing replicates the same atmosphere of Pokémon.
I think a lot of it is in how Pokémon are viewed in-universe. In most RPGs, monsters are seen as something to be either killed or tamed, like some lesser beast, whereas Pokémon very much emphasises that their relation with people is (usually) that of friendship and mutual benefit, and the worlds in-game are heavily centred around this relationship.
I really would like another game to capture this same feeling, but it hasn't happened yet.

DQM is a bit too harsh and fantastic. The monsters are also way more violent and many are pretty much humans.

Somehow Pokemon makes its dangerous creatures still feel like housepets under all circumstances.

digimon actually ties this in with the gameplay though, as opposed to your goal being "capture them all" you help your partner and friend overcome trials so that he can "become" them all. the idea of fulfilling the pokedex is literally contradictory to the idea of having pokemon be your friends or close family, as there are social limits that would prevent you from having meaningful relationships with a large portion of them

You could try monsterhunter stories if you are interested. They have a Rock paper scissors type system and you actually feel more like a beast master than just someone ordering monsters around.

Can grab it on your phone if you've got a decent one to.
Only downside, is there will probably never be a sequel.

To be fair, there aren‘t any games trying to mimic the pokewibe. It keeps me wondering why there isn’t any Indi developers at work there. There is clearly a market for this.

The early Dragon Quest games. Not Dragon Quest Monsters, just Dragon Quest. The first couple of Pokemon games took a LOT of influence from them. Fun fact: Satoshi Taijiri once spent hours trying to farm a rare drop in Dragon Quest 2 (the Mysterious Hat/Mad Cap), while his friend Ken Sugimori was a luckshitter who got two to drop. He really, really wished Sugimori could just trade him the extra, which ended up being where the idea of trading in Pokemon originated from.

Most pokemon like games try to hard.
All that is needed, is your little dinosaur turn into a big dinosaur.
It doesn't need to suddenly grow pant and a bazooka (digimon)
Turn into a human with a dinosaur hat (digimon)
Turn into Vishnu (SMT)
An entirely different species (DQM)

Evolution is a huge thing in these games, keep it simple.
Pikachu turns into raichu.
Not Pikachu turns into one of 12 different monsters depending on a stat grind which you will need certain items for you wont get till the third run through but only on days that have three vowels in them after a escort quest and friendship level between 310 and 312 no more or less or your monster turns into a piece of shit.

Story goes like this.
Main character hatches a dragon egg, he's gon be a rider.
His friend also wants to be a rider, but sees a Pantherdragon crash into his family house and loses his family, guy becomes sasuke. Rides the green version of your dragon.

To each there own. While I don't mind it if you have a reasonable way to do it. Most of these grind monsters you won't even end up getting till end game and by that point the other monsters in your party outclass what you wanted in the first place.

I'd much rather have it be something like the eveelutions.

For me it was mainly the travel aspect.
I got into Pokemon when I was around 7, and at the time I wished I could have the freedom of going wherever I wanted whenever I wanted.
On the evening I would look at the hills from my window and imagine myself going through them with my Pokemon.
That's why I think the travel aspects matters a lot in Pokemon and that routes being large, real scaled and organic is more important than inventing some shitty new battle gimmick for each gen.

I also loved the freedom/travel aspect in the anime (which wasn't limited by technical limitation like the games and thus showed the Pokemon world as it was meant to be), which is why I think the SM anime is pathetic for giving up on it and turning into le school.

like other anons said, nothing really captures the Pokemon feeling but I found Persona enjoyable.I liked finding new personas, learning about them and the real world counterparts if any, and when you summon them it always feels cool just because how much character is put into the game
