Doing a randomized firered with random abilities, random TMs, random items. Got myself an EXP Share. Abilities change with evolution as well, so no idea what Slaking will have.

Boxed are: Luvdisk, Steelix, Poliwhirl, Ledian, Kingler(Fucking lightning rod), Bagon, Castform, Meditite.

Dead are: Magcargo and Gloom(died to explosion, RIP)

I just picked up a lvl 20 bagon should I keep altaria or go with that?

Just about managed Kanto with no losses despite being grossly underleveled. Currently embarking on a massive grind-a-thon before I tackle Red.

A few notes:

Initially I picked Cyndaquil as I thought it would be a good middle ground, but this run has me convinced it might be a better pick than Totodile. Absolutely based line.

Surprised at how hard Pinsir is to use given it's such a rare mon. Pretty much an afterthought until it got Swords Dance, even then having Fury Cutter as its best STAB is pure ass.

Paphos and Bambino pretty much carried me through Kanto, and I'm hoping the two will be able to plow through Red. Ursaring seems to one-shot almost everything unboosted, and getting up a few Curses under the cover of Hypnosis (2-7 turns of sleep? Fucking really?) just makes it even more ridiculous.

After a bitch of a grind, especially YOU, Umbreon, I was finally ready for Crasher. First came Barry though.
He was really easy, his biggest threat was Staravia, but after being burned by Holiday it didnt really stand much of a chance so the battle was a breeze.

I'll be honest, I went into Blackthorn fully expecting to take heavy losses, thus the suicide terminator with Sturdy set up to take one for the Imperium if things got too heavy. Instead Clair was utterly btfo, the only thing she was able to do was buy time with Thunder Waves until her Dragonairs got slapped to death by Enslaver. Gyarados got oneshot by Night Lord and Curze disabled Kingdra's Hydro Pump like a total chad allowing Ferrus to come in and free them up super hard.

Unfortunately the leader of this gaggle of non-compliant rabble fled into the caves behind the city before giving up the last relic needed to complete subjugation of the continent.

It's been a while /Nuzlocke General/
I'm only updating after gym battles and deaths, so I guess sometimes there'll be gaps, haha.
Shephieuzh has been an awesome addition so far. A very solid attacker. I got to buff my team up thanks to the Celadon Department Store. Shephieuzh definitely got the most out of it. I've got 3/4 moves I want for him (sort of). I know his last move will be Strength, but I don't know if I'm gonna give up Karate Chop or Mega Punch. Karate Chop is technically weaker, but it's crits are consistent. Everything I'm reading says it only has a 1/8 chance, but it's been feeling like 7/8. Is there some kind of critical glitch in Red?
Nothing really crazy happened.

So I beat my no evolving Platinum run. Team going in was Rotom/Chimchar/Bronzor/Quagsire/Carnivine/Medicham.

Aaron and Bertha were simple. Flint was less simple but still fine. Lucian was where it went to shit though. His Alakazam crit killed my Rotom through Light Screen before it got to do anything and I only beat his Gallade without any further deaths due to Medicham getting a Fire Punch burn and abusing Bronzor's dual screens and healing. But being down to 5 and without one of my best mons was bad times all round.

Cynthia's Spiritomb did heavy damage to both Chimchar and Carnivine, but we got it down. Then came Togekiss. It trolled me a lot, then as I had Quagsire out, she switched to Roserade. Medicham managed to barely take it down, but then got crit against Togekiss when I tried to tank an Air Slash due to my entire team being shreked already. Bronzor came back out, and also got crit and killed. So now I'm down to a wounded Chimchar, equally wounded Carnivine, and Quagsire.

In comes Garchomp. I heal as it uses Flamethrower, then I tank and Earthquake and freeze it! I get super lucky, and Garchomp goes down. Milotic was essentially a stall war against my Earthquakes, but it mostly used Mirror Coat for some reason. Lucario was the last mon, which went down in a single hit, albeit doing heavy damage with Aura Sphere first.

So Quagsire/Chimchar/Carnivine are my only survivors. That was pretty rough. I think it would have been way easier if Rotom hadn't got crit very early on against Lucian.

I seriously thought I was going to wipe.

No, that was the last attempt and has since been excluded for time reasons, it just showed up as my one encounter for Cerulean Cave and I figured I might as well use it since again open spot, it was already 65, and most importantly it crosses it off the universal dupelist so it doesn't kill routes in future gens. I DO have to catch (or at least do my best attempt to) every Legendary with a battle, which is why I was still grinding post League to go deal with good ol' Gen 1 murdermonster Mewtwo.

Alright, I'm back from burning out and am ready to finish up Gen 3. Since I've used all 3 KANTOOOO starters so far, I replaced them with Shroomish, Houndour, and Remoraid. My rival kicked my ass in the first battle, but it didn't count because no pokeballs. I was lucky enough to get Garand in a single ball, and used him to weaken Dragunov for the catch. Some grinding later, and some boosting on Geodude, and Dragunov swept through Brock singlehandedly. Good thing too, since my whole team was weak to Rock Tomb.

Level cap is level 12 and she learned Double Kick at that level. We got through Brock easily.

I did lose a Rattata while grinding to a fucking Spearow, while my Zubat couldn't escape from a fucking Pidgey and died to a crit.

One more important battle to go. Sydney was easy with Bliss and Spaatz destroying everything in their path. Spaatz then shit all over Phoebe, with Calm Mind and Faint Attack. Glacia was rough though. No one on my team wanted to fight her team, though I thought the Glalie could be taken out by Summerall. I used Washington and Spaatz to take down the Sealeo and Clark took down her Walrein. When the first Glalie came out, I switched to Summerall. He got hit with an ice beam, but shattered the Glalie with an Iron Tail. Then the next came out and hit a crit ice beam, taking down Summerall. Washington cleaned it up with an EQ, but the damage was done. Drake was easy thanks to Clark then Spaatz and Eisenhower took down Wallace. Next up is Steven, probably going to add the numel to my party.

Despite feeling I over leveled, Steven was a rough fight. Lead with Marshall and took down the skarmory in 1 Eruption. Next out was the claydol so I switched to Clark to deal surf it to death. Then came the cradily, who crit Clark with a giga drain that scared the shit out of me after living an ice beam. Then he started spamming full restores and healing it. 6 ice beams later, I got a crit and killed it. Washington took care of Aggron and Armaldo. Then there was metagross. I thought Marshall could easily erupt on it and win. I did not think it would out speed and almost one shot her with earthquake. I sent in Washington on an EQ and got knocked down to about 2/3. After 2 rounds of full restores and exchanging earthquakes, the metagross finally went down. Emerald is finally over.

I just pointed that out because Route 4/Desert Resort is full of big boys. Sandile/Darumaka/Scraggy/Sigilyph/Crustle are all super strong in game, and Maractus is relatively strong, even if outclassed.

By getting access to one extra encounter in those sections you bolster your team significantly IMO, since any of those mons can carry your run easily.

Just my opinion though, I'm usually a lot harsher with my runs than most people.

I knew for a fact that Koga's Weezing had Self-Destruct and that I'd have to leave it all to luck as it would kill any of my Pokemon, and I'm not the type to sacrifice.
I decided to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I grinded Grij up an extra level even after sweeping the rest of the gym with him. I gave him what Calcium and Iron I had.
I should also say, my Alakazam has a Special IV of one. Even at that, my Psybeam wouldn't have one-hitted his Weezing anyway.
I took down his 2 Koffings and his Muk with my Psybeam. He sends out Weezing. I use Psybeam. It takes him down to low yellow AND confuses him. I think to myself, "This could be good luck!"
Unfortunately, it was not.
Of course, he Self-Destructs and kills Grij very easily. Definitely a very painful loss.
There's no telling anymore. Anyone can die.
Anyway, now we have Ich the Hypno (I'm using Pokemon in the order of capture by the way).
I've been "choosing" names with an RNG system. Ew the Ekans was pretty funny, but now we have a German Hypno, so that's also nice.
Another Psychic type. Obviously nowhere near an Alakazam's level, but I still have high hopes for him.
The grinding part definitely won't be fun though.

I'm usually pretty lenient when it comes to encounters (gifts not counting for the area, being able to buy one mon from game corners etc) since I'm playing on harder rules than the standard nuzlocke rules (the rules I have in place being quite challenging for my relatively mediocre skill level)

Driftveil Gym went relatively smoothly, owo took care of all the regular trainers and when it came time to face Clay he also took out Krokorok and 50% of Excadrill's HP, switching out to Akihiko as Excadrill landed a flinch from his +1 Rock Slide and owo wouldn't have been able to take a second one. Akihko outsped Excadrill and finished it off with Dig, after Clay sent out Palpitoad we switched over to owo, who absorbed a Muddy Water and KOed with Giga Drain.

Excited to try and use Vanillish, haven't really used one before and I'm one of those that acutally really like the design of the family, hope they'll serve me well!

I make mistakes because I use the fast-forward feature too much while multitasking, now two more Pokemon enter the graveyard. I went ahead and leveled up a couple Pokemon to gauge out which ones can help replace Crobat and Kingdra while flying back and forth for optimal moves and minor EV training. As of now I'm anticipating a couple more casualties upon entering the gym.

I need to know this too. Sacred Gold is pretty brutal in its own right, but this shit sounds like a completely different level! At least Sacred Gold ups Pokemon distribution and gives easier access to pretty much everything in exchange for the risk of wiping in pretty much every Gym.

Spore managed to take out Clefairy with spore and cut and manged to take a hit in order to spore Miltank, which got rid of the lum berry.
Tops was able to hit with a glare and I switched in Looker to finish it but they got a lucky attract in.
I brought out Mumble to get rid of it and heal up Looker and took a chance for confusion which paid off.
Looker came back in and took the win.

Is it possible for smokescreen to miss?
I'm battling Clair's Kingdra right now (gen 2) and it used smokescreen twice, with it saying "but it failed" both times.
I checked the wiki and it says smokescreen has 100% accuracy, so is there some other factor that can make it fail?

Yes, in Gen 1 and 2, all NPCs have an additional 50%(?) chance to just fail their status moves outright, that's how you can get otherwise 100% accurate moves miss. I guess even back then Game Freak had little faith in the player

I had a 14-hour job yesterday (I work as a mover for a real-estate company and this lady had one hell of a stuffed house). Anyway I DID have a death yesterday, but I fell into a deep-ass sleep before I could post about it.
So, anyway, I finished clearing out the Silph Co. Building, and it was time for me to battle Gary (come at me Bluefags). The battle went pretty well up until he sent out his Alakazam. My dumb tired ass knew that Alakazam was weak to Bug-Type moves, but forgot that Uee was half Poison-Type, and as we all know with Nuzlockes, one dumbass mistake can ruin it all. He Psybeamed my Uee and killed him in one hit. Now I'm already at 10 deaths and this is just my first game. There's no telling how long this picture's gonna be in about 10 games.
Anyway, RIP Uee. You were a damn good Brodrill.

There's 2 versions of Sacred Gold. One has regular shiny chances, but there's a version with a patch that makes the odds 1 in 257 (So about 32x easier).

I fucked up. Sturdy from Magneton became Analytic on evolution, and I never bothered to notice until the inevitable Earthquake happened. Life orb & Focus Sash Pokemon also contributed to the other two casualties, which means more training on previously caught Pokemon before considering on setting foot onto the final gym.

I'm glad Fearow's in the Medium-Fast exp group, because that grinding was getting annoying. Route 15 is a pretty good route to grind Fearow on though.
>Sweep through the basic Blackbelts with Zuv. Had to switch to Shephieuzh a few times. Zuv almost died a few times.
>Anyway, I get to the Head Blackbelt.

Yeah it was to do no dupes Hoenn, but I usually have a 3 strike dupes clause, so I wanted to make things harder. Well, I succeeded. I didn't want to overlevel my starter but Roxanne will murder me if I don't evolve Torchic.

I used Mudkip last time so left trainer ID as odd = Treecko and even = Torchic. Wish I'd got Treecko man, but my number ended in 0. I don't even really like Blaziken.

Forcibly evolved Torchic and demolished Roxanne, then Wingull demolished Brawly because he never tried to attack me and I got good damage rolls with Wing Attack. Now I can start getting encounters again. It's weird how the first two gyms in Hoenn are almost back to back.

This may be the most boring Electric type line of all time, but at least it's an Electric type in Hoenn. I've never kept Manectric alive for long though, so we'll have to see, but the potential is clearly there.

Finally got my PRs. I messed up some of the earlier numbers, so I adjusted them here. There'll probably be a lot more space in between gyms. I estimate this will be done by February (assuming I get my non-existant diet on track). Lats looking delicious, though.
Back to /vp/
I caught two team fillers (Katya and Nikolai), and then they died. Pathetic.
Irina took out the Budew, but then it missed Fury Cutter on Turtwig and ruined its momentum. Ivanna took care of the rest.
When you've got so much time in between gyms and you wanna play the game, you gotta find a way to cope. My method was training boxmons and digging around in the underground. I've got a fuck ton of Crandios waiting to come back to life. Hope one's a shiny.

If you're on an emulator, yes. I save before I excavate each wall so I can get all the good shit. You're going to need to put in some time though. I change the dates so I can get more stuff.

Actually, that's a fair point, looking at his mons only Throh has a Dark type move, but it shouldn't be impossible to outspeed that thing and then go to town on the rest of his team...I think that might be what I'll go for, unless something else good pops into my lap

I don't know, I feel like a Stunfisk wouldn't be able to take as much punishment as Musharna, Musharna can also heal itself through Moonlight in a pinch which is quite valuable

Considering all of Marshal's Pokemon carry a super effective move against Chandelure I don't think that's a good idea, besides Besmirch is Adamant so that cuts into their power quite a bit anyway.
