I'm not saying it has to be "muh ambiguous", for example: I think Litten, even if it's "just a cat", has a lot of elements which make it clear it's not an ordinary creature. Same with Pokemon like Caterpie, Poochyena, Tauros, Skrelp, etc. But then you have stuff like Wooloo which is quite literally just a sheep (and don't bring the braids thing, some farmers braid their sheep) and that's when it's just wrong. It's not a monster, it's not an "animal from another world", it's none of that. It's literally just a human world sheep, and for a monster franchise that's just wrong.
