Regardless of how quickly it recovered, it still fainted. Once a Pokemon faints and is declared umable to battle by the referee, it loses, those have always been the rules.

Pikachu's alright right after losing often enough. With the games, you can still talk to fainted partners in LGPE and use HMs with fainted Pokemon in general. Not so strange overall.

You SMfags are as ridiculous as the show's writers are shit. The Kanto league is a longstanding officially recognized league. Alola's league should follow the same rules but instead of bends them in Ash's favor to give him a hollow victory.

If a Pokemon gets hurt/exhausted to the point where he can't keep standing without collapsing to the ground then it would be dangerous to tell it to keep going.
This is why official battles have referees to decide when a Pokemon is unable to battle.
It doesn't literally mean it "can't battle" more than it "shouldn't battle".
