>>40382116It's not about this either. It's about which creatures are the face of the franchise. Pokemon doesn't care about my generation in terms of game sales, and they're still pushing the iconic kanto designs to kids who grew up with gens 3, 4, or 5.
Another point is that the "pandering" I grew up on is completely different from the pandering they're doing today. I had a bunch of poliwhirl merch for whatever reason, and you don't see that nowadays. It's not about genwunners, it's about marketable designs.
