We don't have midnight releases in my shithole country, but I went to XY's launch day event at a local store. That was the only time I ever got a notable number of streetpass hits in my entire life.

It was a social event when I did it. The Gamestop I went to for ORAS, because Smash also released like >>40583215 said, they had various Smash versions set up on some TVs, even Project M loaded on a modded Wii.

Not an "event" but I walked into a Super Walmart near where I live to get X right at midnight with my brothers. Ran into a few other people there who had the same idea. Was fun talking to them for a minute or two while the guy went to the back to get the games for us.

I remember being part of a mini tournament when we were getting BW. i didnt get BW, but it would be the last day i got to play Gen 4 competitively. meanwhile, a lot of customers opened their copies right there. and many of them were surprised that the new professor was a woman

NGL it was kinda nice knowing the stats prior the games released, help me team craft, it was fun hanging out with people. Then I booted up the game and had to put fucking nebby in the fucking bag.

Yes. It was hard to be there for LGPE’s midnight release; an incredible amount of goth-wearing-but-no-goth-in-them-fedora-wearing-obese-niggers (white), a few roasties, and lots of Spanish people, which is not normal because I live in an Asian dominated location. The tism of one kid was very palpable, playing a Pokémon intro theme song on full blast and looking around to see who was looking back at him.

I have been to every midnight release since I was in high school I think, so that means that I have been to every one since X and Y. My parents were pretty cool in letting me go when I was in high school, and I'd even get to take the day off if I wanted to. Flip side of that coin, I'm a 22 year old in college so that should tell anyone how good my work ethic is.

Those are the ones I vaguely remember, the only one I'm not sure of is USUM. I kind of crashed 'em when I came with a copy of said games, I know of a small physical mom-and-pop store that sells games a day or two before release date.

X&Y / B/w 2 / S&M, local gamestop has a lot of friends, and the rest of us in our group tend to go to them together and hang out at little tournaments they held for the time we'd be waiting. Very fun times, and it's the only reason I'm going to sw&sh's midnight release, regardless of the fact that I'll have it pirated by then.

B/W, X&Y, ORAS.
Rode my bike with a friend to gamestop at like 11:30pm to wait in line for X&Y. Not many people there because it was in a small college town but someone made pokemon themed macaroons and handed them out to everyone waiting. Overall it was a pretty cool experience, same for ORAS.

That's... Exactly what I did for ORAS, SM, and USUM. I order a XL Pizza at 11pm, keep it in my oven at the lowest setting until I get the game at 9pm/midnight, and then eat pizza, drink soda, play vidya from 9pm/midnight until 12 noon, until beat the game, or until I'm too sleepy to make a coherent sentence.
