>>38551301more ranting because I have nothing better to do on a monday evening:
>the only halfway competent character is gladion, who really just stands around being edgy all day but at least tries to accomplish something helpful, even if he does go "lol you and lilie go do it" at the end. At least he was willing to take SOME level of initiative without being an idiot about it.>tutorials and handholding galore.>wild mons are low leveled, trainers almost never have more than two pokemon and none of them are a challenge. The entire game is piss easy even without exp share.really the only good things I have to say about the plot are that
>clothing being version exclusive is absolute garbage. it would be slightly more tolerable if you could chose what you want to buy off of festival plaza guests, but its all random, and getting the dye house you want is too rng dependant.>Festival plaza is a terrible replacement for CSS. I shouldn't have to go through several loading screens to access the online features given that previous games on the same hardware had a much more elegant solution.A: Guzma and team skull are good boys and its a shame they get eclipsed by lillie's hot mom's tentacle/heroism fetish.
B: Rainbow Rocket was actually neat, but once again even the postgame content is too easy to steamroll over.
End of the day generation 7 was not very good. Much like how gamefreak almost always just drops good ideas the next gen over, I don't expect any new regional variants going forwards, and z-crystals will likely just be obtained all at once from some npc in the SS postgame. Alola's only legacy in the long term will be Z-moves, but you'll never get to use them during the story again and if mega evolution is any indication they're going to be banned from VGC for half of gen 8 anyways. If nothing else, expect a few random Galar mons and maybe one or two older pokemon to gain the terrain surges, with whichever mon that gains electric surge overtaking koko in usage
