And no, when it comes to calling out balancing issues, you cannot compare 6v6 singles to 4v4 doubles when they are so fundamentally distinct, the pace of each is monstrously diferent with vgc favouring much more offensive playstyles where singles is more flexible and tends to gear towards balance/bulky offense.
Utility/support naturally plays a much bigger role in a doubles format as it also allows another pokemon to be on the field, this is why we see much more usage of moves like tailwind, spore/dark void (pre nerf), intimidate, wide guard, etc.
On the other hand passive damage is much more centralising in singles as switching is fundamental in that regard, thats why hazards are incredibly good.
These are just some examples showing how diferent both formats are.
Also i dont really give a shit about the people who say they like more the format that vgc offers over smogon or the other way around, its when they start calling one being more balanced than the other that i find stupid.
