>>40655320>GrassTorterra > Sceptile > Serperior > Venusaur > Chesnaught > Meganium > Magilla Gorilla > Decidueye
I feel like the first three are pretty standard taste in grass starters, and while I find Venusaur to be rather ugly I can still appreciate it. I like Chesnaught's theme, if nothing else, and while I like Meganium it is rather boring being just a small dino with a flower necklace. The gorilla is rather plain, what with the only indication that it's grass type being the leaves on its head and wrists. Decidueye is just trash - I like birds and owls in particular are always good, but feather-fingers? No. Just no.
>FireCharizard > Infernape > Blaziken > Emboar > Typhlosion > Delphox > Incineroar > Cinderace
Been a fan of Charizard since gen 1, and while the Fire/Fighting type definitely got overused, I generally like the designs of all three. Typhlosion's design is just kind of boring, same as Meganium, and while Delphox is a fursuit I can at least appreciate the mage design they were going for. Incineroar is a literal fursuit and Cinderace is a twink fursuit.
>WaterBlastoise > Swampert > Feraligator > Samurott > Greninja > Empoleon > Primarina > Intelleon
Despite the high > low order of these rankings, I am rather fond of most of the water starters overall. Blastoise may get called a Digimon, but it's simple and straightforward - a turtle that uses its shell as a water tank for the high-pressure cannons in its shell. Swampert and Feraligator are honestly more of a toss-up, but I give the edge to Swampert for having such a useful second type. Despite all the hate it gets, I also rather like Samurott. Greninja's alright, but it would have placed higher if it didn't use its own fucking tongue as a scarf and just kept the bubble theme of its pre-evolutions. I can appreciate the whole "mermaid" theme of Primarina, but I don't think it should have been used for a starter line. Fuck Randal.
