Having plaid the main story and now working on a nice breeding Eevee, I can say that it's not a train wreck. Camp is nice and the story is...well the same as the other games. If anything, it's like. Nestle bar. Low quality, running on momentum. You know it's not good for you, and you shouldn't be supporting them for external reasons, but fuck if it isn't something that scratches an itch once in a while.
It's not really worse than SuMo, but it's definitely not better and for going to a new system at a new price point it really should have been. Probobly won't use my own money to buy any Pokemon games in future, but they're still worth it on sale or as a store-credit sink.
