And why WOULDN'T you want to fuse Pokemon? Since being a kid it's been my fucking dream. We got fusion in Dragon ball, fusion in Yugioh, fusion in Digimon.. in videogames Shin Megami Tensei had been doing it since the NES as well.
Fusion was the rage back then and Pokemon refused to do it but it'd be cool to sacrifice one of your monds mid battle to merge and get an ultra strong mon.

No, it was just giving Ash the Battle Robot's shill frog a special snowflake form. I'd rank it as one of the lowest points.

We already have Kyurem and now Necrozma, actual fusions, as opposed to Ash Greninja, which is just Greninja taking on some of Ash's appearance.

Because it's fucking stupid and it reminds me of not just Digimon Frontier, one of the worst Digimon series, but ReBurst, a creatively bankrupt manga so bad that even the magazine that hosted it erased any trace of its existence from its website and person the moment it ended. GameFreak doesn't even reference it, and their standards are incredibly low.

Pokemon Tag-Team.
The region's major battles will be Double Battles with the key gimmick being that certain Pokemon can perform tag-team moves together.
The Camp/Amie in this region is used to find out what Pokemon are capable of performing Tag-Team moves together.
Once you have two that can, you forge a special chain connecting their two Pokeballs and you must send both out at the same time.
Tag-Team moves have a dual typing and if both types of the move are Super-Effective against both types of a dual-type Pokemon, then the move is labelled Hyper-Effective.
Likewise, if both types of a move are Not very Effective against both types of a dual-type Pokemon, the move will be labelled as Almost Useless.
The box Legendaries have the ability to perform a Tag-Team move with every Pokemon capable of Tag-Team moves
The main villain is attempting to create an Omni-Move which combines every type into one move, which he plans to use with a man-made Pokemon to take over the region/protect the region in a misguided way.
There's also a 3rd Legendary who is the source of Tag-Team moves because fuck you that's how this works now apparently.

I’ve said this before, but the next gimmick will be being able to turn a pokemon into a “spirit” that works like an item. You can equip it to your other Pokémon to give them stat boosts, or add/alter their type or ability or something. There’s a lot of different mechanics they could do with this, like triple typed Pokémon for example. And certain Pokémon-spirit combos would result in a special fusion that gives you a totally different Pokémon, like pikachu-charizard or something.

Honestly if they took that idea as I wrote it I would be quite pleased. There are plenty of ways they could make it graphically easier on themselves too so I do think it’s likely to happen at some point or another. My theory is that most pokemon will just become a generic spirit based on their type, i.e. arcanine becomes a “fire spirit” that just adds a fiery aura to the pokemon you equip it to, while the more shilled pokemon become a species specific spirit, i.e. charizard becomes a “charizard spirit” that adds fiery wings or something instead of just a generic aura and has a different effect on mechanics. And if you equip it to another shilled pokemon like pikachu or something it triggers a fusion and they digivolve into a greymon.

Ok, how about give them armor forms? Like with Zacian and Zamazenta in this gen, it won't be an evolution but requires a specific item for each pokemon, but unlike Mega that it's just armor attached into the pokemon.

Cyborg armor or something like that , available through holding an item for certain mons. Changes some moves to "X" type. No mon has or gets this type, It exists only in battle. Gives STAB. It has no strenghts or weaknesses agains other types.

Not a literal fusion with the trainer. The mon gets boosted stat, some get a new form, other just an "aura".
If the synched mon faints you faint too and the Battle Is over even if you still had Pokémon in your party.

Games states since RBY that if you walk into grass without a Pokémon to fight alongside you, the wild ones will fuck you up. They like to fight. Otherwise High leveled or evolved Pokémon in the wild wouldnt exist. Thats why the entirety of BW plot was retarded

I would not mind to see fusions like he ones we had before. Other interesting mechanic for me would be hybrid pkm, from breeding two different species you get a new species, they could take the opportunity to revamp breeding. Also armor or "cyborg" evolutions doesn't sound that bad. Battle bound abilities has potential, new forms activated by abilities is close to megas I guess, but it's interesting and we already have a couple of them.

It would have to be something low effort and doesn't take much time to model, Ideally no modelling needed at all. I'm thinking invisble mode. Pokemon become invisible for 5 turns and cannot be hit during this time. There are no drawbacks and most importantly no need to model anything.

Some cool ideas in thsi thread, but next gen's gimmick will just be another type of 4th evolution, similar to mega or dynamax but with some small adjustment that makes it technically different, like it kicks in when they have low HP or something

Limit break style gauge that increases per turn and with damage dealt/taken that can be expended to activate branching quicktime events during battle that may allow you to use multiple moves in succession. The moveset for the quicktime events will start with things like tackle and growl, but expert timing and a full gauge will allow you to chain into high level moves, and even switches into other team members that can continue the chain. Dancing.

Because of the negative feedback from this gen's "quality animations" GameFreak feels pressured to make them look good. They will animate mons to move very lively in gen 9 but won't know how to implement it right so it will be a new battle mechanic.

When activating your Rhytmic Bracelet, the Dance Stone inside will turn your Pokémon into a dancing star. Its animation will change from being completely still as it has been the past 3 generations to a graceful performer with a dancing pattern. While it is in dancing mode, your evasion raises! Not only that, every time you attack, a rhythm minigame appears on screen and you must tap to the rhythm. The percentage of success at this minigame determines the bonus to damage your move gains.

Goes will with the South American region it will be based on.
Different dancing styles stones can be collected (salsa, reggae, tango...) with different boosts each. Stupid enough for GameFreak to implement.

Living interactive enchanted terrain. Using rock tomb will cover field with rocks that helps smaller pokemon to evade. Rain covers field with water that will freeze if you use ice moves making ice terrain. Big pokemons could break ice and make it rugged ice terrain. Fire pokemon can melt the whole thing. Grass pokemon could just leave its roots to ground to slow down enemies. Basically just put everuthing cool from pokemon manga into the game.
