I don't know, call me a conspiracy theorist but it seems like they're taking the fall for Masuda's bullshit "we had to remake the models" claim. Maybe they're the ones that told GameFreak that so they could get away with doing less work, only to turn around and recycle the old models anyway.

Yes, but owning something and actively being a business partner to them are entirely different things.

Although, with no actual information it's entirely possible they no longer actually own part of it or very little of it.

At one point 4Kids even owned 3% as part of their licensing deal.

Closest I can find is the copywrite info at the bottom of every page which still lists Creatures. Unless I have the wrong website? According to google and Wikipedia TPC's official website is just the corporate section of the Japanese official pokemon site

You can't fire the fucking creator. Creatures is easily replaced and they still have the TCG; Game Freak is the heart of the franchise and TPC is the brain. The former create the lifebood of the franchise (the Pokemon themselves) and the latter are the marketing and merchandising experts who plan everything out such as release dates, when to reveal info, etc.

Not at all. Even if they are BTFO, it was Game Freak as the developer who didn't take their time and TPC and Nintendo as the publishers who didn't demand they do so.

Creatures is the least at fault here. Especially since even if you want stupid furry shitters for Pokémon, it's Game Freak saying no to them.

They made the models back in Gen 5 and designed them to be reusable. The stiff animations and awful lifeless poses are all on GF.

Creatures 3DCG department is every single component of the models. from rigging to textures to animations. the reason they’re all lifeless is because a team of 30-something dedicated workers and a bunch of underpaid freelancers had to make 600+ animations for a single game, because for SOME reason the ones in pokédex 3D weren’t enough.

The ones in Pokedex 3D are the EXACT SAME MODELS.

Hell, they were being used before that. They were first used in an anime intro back in 2010.

chalk that up to a smaller pool of pokémon to create and animate and IIRC a larger staff. especially for the stadium games which started off with only 60 of the original 151 pokemon in the japanese only first game and reused models and animations all the way up to battle revolution with only a few exceptions like Gengar.

Because they have all the models done in HD and future proofed for eternity, now GF is just going to do their usual new ones every 3 years or so and keep recycling the same ones over and over (while still not including all of them in the game)

Most of it comes down to TPCi's god awful management and impossible to meet deadlines followed by gamefreaks sheer incompetence when it comes to coding and proper optimization (Although using the same engine every 3 generations can probably be put on TPCi) The models in Pokepark, Smash and Pokken are the exact same models but with different textures and much better animations.

This is a shitty move. Some of the models the CG team made for the mainline games suck ass but that’s because the CG team only has like 20 full time employees. The chick who leads the team requested that they be allowed to increase their full time work force since they’d be doing higher quality models due to moving to the Switch, but higher ups in Creatures and TPC weren’t willing to pay more workers so they had to make do with the 20~ modellers and animators they had.

They do the animations too, but they do them as specified by Gamefreak. So for the shitty poses and animations it’s on Gamefreak for giving them minimal instructions, leading them to produce uninspired generic work, and for deciding to use that work anyway. Gamefreak set the bar incredibly low on most old Pokémon, but newer ones you can tell had far more work put into them and have incredibly lively animations. It’s on Gamefreak for half assing the brief for their model/animation requirements for Gen 1-5 mons, which means they got in return mediocre work. Which they still decided to use because it’s infinitely superior to anything they themselves could make.

I don't know about the being denied part, but the chick in charge did indeed want to double the number of staff.

We know in the past it was 33/32/32/3 for Game Freak/Creatures/Nintendo/4Kids.

The bit for 4Kids via their license likely came from and went back to them all equally. So that leaves Game Freak at 34 majority and the other two 33 most likely.

Though Nintendo owns an unknown amount of Creatures so they'd have influence through both making Nintendo's actual influence a little less clear.
