Master Rule 5 completely removed the Extra Monster Zone rule from Fusion, Synchro and Xyz. All 3 have been restored to full power and even more since linkshit cucked the game. Pendulum still obeys it to keep under control.

Literally the dream solution no one was expecting.

The Link situation doesn't phase me, because it's like nothing has changed at all.

The art style has shifted so far left from what it was that I've lost a significant amount of interest. I'll give 7 a shot because I've been keeping up with Yu-Gi-Oh! for so long but if they change the IRL cards to look like the new ones, I'm out.

What the fuck are Rush Duels then? Just an entirely separate, monster-spam game mode because Vanguard is the new hotness and Konami needs a way to make one of the most esoteric and bullshit card games popular again? I don't even play either, but knowing what I do about getting my game on, Yugioh should have died in the late 2000s before it went from "summon MONSTER X with high-resource play" to "everything in Yugioh is now MTG Dredge that plays win conditions from the deck and graveyard for OTKs."

I know that 5D's is like Sinnoh of YGO! and there's alot of devoted fans of it, but it was not good, had more development issues than fetus after his mom walks thru Chernobyl and ultimately was loss for Konami. Surprisingly on the other hand ZeXal was second most popular season in Japan despite being universaly hated by western fans.

Zexal gets shat on because of season one. Most drop it by then and simply continue to hate it regardless of merit. Zexal II is good. Just like 5Ds is good if you can live with what happens in season two, due to outside forces beyond anyone's control. Arc-V on the other hand is a straight up tragedy. The first 50 or so episodes of Standard were the best Yugioh will ever get.

I still believe if Let's Go Kill Ourselves and swshit remain the maximum standard, constantly removing quality of life improvements and even core content with nothing to show for it, it could actually harm Pokemon games enough in the long run just like Dragon Quest getting bashed for not "getting with the times".

Links were designed with the idea that you were limited on Arrows and that you couldn't shit out a board of synchros and XYZ. Now Links have to compete with full power Synchro and XYZ that don't have to worry about arrows, don't have to bother wasting ED space, get an extra monster zone, and can now reaccess every combo they had before Links. The top Link decks will he fine but 90% of links are now E tirely worthless.

There are definitely OP Links, but what made them so oppressive was that you had to run them to make Synchro, XYZ, and Fusion decks work. Unless you had links you were limited to one Extra Deck card in the field. So if I wanted to make Quasar for example, I would need a link monster that gave me enough arrows to get three synchros on the field in some way, meaning I was wasting ED space on Links and throwing in Link cards that usually didn't flow with my deck.

At least with Links you could still use your old cards, you just needed some blue ones too. Plenty of people liked Links, plenty of people joined with Links, and YCS turn outs were the highest they'd ever been. 4channers didn't like Links, but most Anons don't play competitively anyway. This really only effects Synchro Summons. There were no Xyz/Fusion Flood decks, and the strongest Black/Purple builds hardly cared about Links. E-Heroes and Relinquished did just fine.

Something as infinitely customizable as a cardgame will always have more 'content' I suppose.
