Pokemon sword and shield were 40%-60% done when gamefreak realized they had to Port it to switch
The games began porting around December of 2018
This is why the choice of pokemon from each generation seems to be so random, game freak only had about 300 or so pokemon in the mobile beta of the game, they put most of there work porting rather than adding more Pokemons until last minute, it's also why there's 45 unreleased pkm in the code.
Game freak never got to finish the game and see the vision they had for it due to the pressure Nintendo and the pokemon company put on them.
The games where only a concept on 3ds, they never began development on the handheld.
They're about 5 uncoded new gen 8 pkm, 2 of them being found in the game which are the mythical, they are plan to be released before Sacred Sword and Sacred Sheild release (2021-2022) one of those mythical will have a form change in the diamond and pearl remakes a lot like hoopa and diancie in ORA
One of those two mythical is a psychic and flying type peacock, with glowing eye patterns on it's feathers and a deep purple body color with a hot pink diamond shaped pattern on it's neck and chest.
The other 3 are something in between mythical and ultrabeast as I've been told.
The games will be a lot like USUM but completely redone the story, graphics, sound, character designs,
and game features.
Gamefreak is really looking into redeeming themselves in the fans eyes so alot of work is being put into these games to actually finish them.
The Pokedex is to be expanded over the course of gen 4 remakes and SswSsh release bringing all 890 back.
Mega evolution will return, it will be post game when entering kalos but no new megas will be added sadly.

Torchic won't have a Kalos form
Dynamax won't be a thing in the gen 4 remakes or in the kalos region in
Post game. Dynamax is to galar as Z-moves are to alola.
Z-moves won't come back.
