There are two ways here:
If you have two consoles, you could hack one and keep another for "online features".
If you wish to use only one console, there will be a higher risk of online ban, meaning it bans your console but not your account, but you can do it, for this it's recommended a high storage microSD card. You will want to run emunand at the begining. Remember you will also need to do everything offline. Follow the tutorials and you wont have a problem.

Using aluminium foil paper takes a bit of time to master, but it works, that's the way I do it.
