So why do people who take part in tournaments actually raise their pokemon? Can't you just hack them in, and make it untraceable? I remember the DS and gameboy games were lazy with that sort of shit.

many of them do, but its less risky to just breed with a hacked 6IV ditto, or get a cloned 5IV legendary from someone you know. You don't want to prepare months for a tournament only to be kicked out because fags are GF can't handle a legitimately hacked pokemon.

Collecting and raising Pokémon is the most fun part of the games. Actually using a trained Pokémon in battles against other players isn't fun at all.

because some people have actual taste, and aren't borderline retards that don't actually understand the raising mechanics of these games

plus, it's much more satisfying to win a tourney with a pokemon you raised from the egg up, rather than the soulless one you got from a magical injection machine, one that you have no emotional investment with

When i have access to all my Mons i collected over the years, then i just rebreed them. Penta perfect mon+6iv Ditto= new tournament legal mon in less than a minute. Especially nowadays with the mountains of candies we get and easy mode EV training thanks to glitches.
