It has exploration and backtracking as it should be, without being so much but also not being little, thanks to Poké Ride this is better than ever. It could have been an extra optional and more challenging maze in postgame but in USUM they did the TRR thing so... It works as it.
Region is also beautiful and has best ambientation so far, there’s also lots of side quest to do and even optional places to visit like Kala’e bay, Haina desert, Melemele sea, the lake of the munne...

They stop me every five steps...The plot is heavier but that’s not a problem cause this is a JRPG, and Game Freak clearly wants to make complex stories. Characters have all something to tell for the first time (and the last to date). If you dislike stories just keep playing HGSS or something like that, but the franchise is clearly interested on telling something.
