“Reddit” has evolved from specifically referring to the website of the same name to a name for “the group/hivemind that the majority agrees with”. It’s very fitting, since that’s literally what Reddit is. It’s the easiest “opinion”. Oftentimes it’s common sense.
But when you pair that with 4chan... 4chan has an inaccessible air. It always did. When you discovered 4chan, it was back in the day where 4chan WAS the internet’s counter culture. Posters were unafraid to speak up about anything, due entirely to the anonymous mindset. We were allowed to speak without it being attributed to us specifically. We weren’t held accountable by social points, facial recognition software, or anything like that. In one thread, we could have a conversation about bomb threats, racial stipulations, social obligations... and we could hop right to another thread on the same board and make jokes about how this cartoon bear is a pedophile and he’s kidnapping little Japanese girls.
And the result we get is... sort of a trinity of shit. A shitrinity.
On the bottom left, you’ve got the 10-17 year olds who just discovered 4chan and have easy access to both all the classic 4chan occurrences and mindsets in the form of websites designed to make it easy for their generation, like know your meme. These are Stantler posters. Then on top, you’ve got the oldfags (who are now pushing 40s, early 30s minimum), who were here for the whole thing. They’ve still got the mindset, but they also have a holier than thou attitude. Nothings ever good enough for them. Their vote was probably for Poliwhirl if they’re chill or something like Machamp or Gengar if they’re try hard.
Then bottom right you got Reddit. Literal Reddit. In this context, they can be from Facebook or Reddit or whatever. Instagram? I don’t know what people use. They’re just normies. And they’re here too, because the internet has become so accessible the last 15 years.
