I'm almost certain you weren't "drifting" so much as you picked hoes before bros and tried to sacrifice your own friendship over a potential relationship. Seen it a million times. You probably can't see it yourself, but she was likely only upset because you diverted all the time you once spent with her to spend with some random person you just met, and to no one's surprise but your own, that didn't go well.
