7th Gen Dilemma

There is something off about this gen.
Maybe it didn't click with me enough, having very restricted water areas, dumb island trials, possibly worst linear routes and forgettable designs (except Legendaries and UBs they were all cool as fuck)

So this time we are gonna do the opposite.
List everything you like about SM/USUM so maybe I'm all wrong.

Change doesn't merit applause just because it's change. These "twists" were bad and either made the game worse or just didn't matter.

It's fucking dumb and annoying. It's not more interesting just because the characters now use a dictionary's worth of words to say the same dull, basic things they always have.

I mean I didn't say I liked the gen, but does stuff like the Aether Foundation or being the region's first champion/professor acting the final boss really hurt? Not to mention SWSH copies these twists but makes them worse.

I also think the story is shit because the dialogue drags on and is uninteresting. Really most of the things of SM I like was only good on the first playthrough, but overall they fall flat in the long run and I wouldn't like to see it again

SM is shit, so here's what I liked about USUM:
>rewarded exploration of every nook and cranny with items or totem stickers
>Mantine Surf and the Ultra Wormhole ride were a good change of pace

I could go on but honestly if the games weren't so cutscene heavy and hand-holdy they'd be a top in the series for me

It's by no means perfect, but I actually liked SM a lot; vanilla Sun is the first game since Pearl-Platinum that I actually bothered to complete the Pokedex.
