Gen 2 has a direct equivalent in Mareep, though, and it actually has an interesting concept behind it (wool having static electricity) rather than just being a generic sheep, and evolves in an interesting direction (wool gradually gets sheared, gets bipedal like a human just like humans lost their fur and became bipedal through evolution, its light grows more concentrated and lets it function as a lighthouse) rather than just getting bigger.
