>>43053032 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX (a remake of the original PMD games, Red and Blue Rescue Team) was released for Switch on March 6, 2020. A free demo is available in the eshop if you’re still not sure about getting the full game. Progress carries over into the full game.
Also, doing the simple tutorials in Makuhita's Dojo in the demo can net you good rewards, including a gold ribbon that sells for big money, so be sure to check that out.

I haven't played these in forever but the release of the switch remake made me want to go back to Blue Rescue Team and try to finish it. I'm realizing I never got good and just powered through the game because my starter is lvl 100 and has a lot of stats but I never beat any of the level 1 dungeons like Purity Forest or Wish Cave. Any tips for those? Honestly don't know if I can get some of those Joyous Tower exclusive ones.

Anonymous
>>43061779 Darkrai was pretty shit when he was revealed but I prefer him over whatever the villain was in Super as at least I can remember him. Never played Gates. Rescue Team never really had a villain, Gengar was more of a nuisance than a villain. My favourite villain if he counts as one is Dusknoir.

What's a good post game moveset for Cubone/Marowak in DX? Earth Power seems obvious in addition to Bonemerang but I need coverage for flying types.

>>43062272 If you want the ultimate tryhard team then you don't even use your starters anymore. Instead you need something like Smeargle, Mew and Heracross, all with boosted stats from vitamin grinding. Their rare abilities are Rapid-Bull's Eye, Steamroll and PP Pouch. Heracross has all the multi-hit moves to kill bosses and a Mega that makes multi-hits even better while Smeargle can do literally anything and Mew can learn 3 screen nukes and every single TM. I don't think it would get more tryhardy than that.

>>43061763 In DX, rely on recruited Pokemon to save some of your PP. Let them dish out the damage and try to get the last hit in for a possible new recruit. Use Oran Berries to raise their max HP. Their levels dont matter as long as they have a good RQ and high enough max HP.
The most important thing is your own survival and longevity. Don't ever try to challenge something that might be too dangerous. Don't take chances with earthquake/magnitude Pokemon, use your debilitating seeds/wands and run away if you're not close enough to kill them. Use thrown items to protect your allies in long corridors. Use your all-power, all-dodge, all-whatever on the first floor it's available because you're not going to find the perfect time to use them.
Silver Spikes are the only thrown items that enemies can't catch. Use them for tough enemies. And, if you ever have the resources to stay on floors for a long time, if it's not too dangerous because of magnitude Pokemon, stick around and farm some experience.

Anonymous
>>43062356 Adding to that, in Purity Forest you can recruit Exeggcute on the very first floors. Exeggcute has Uproar which hits an entire room and infinite PP to spam it. If you can recruit 1 or more of those, then you can use them to farm XP early on. Enemies on later floors don't really take much damage from that move anymore but it helps a lot early on. It also has Barrage which has a chance to do a lot of damage.

What is it about Rescue Team DX that's so good? As a remake it's relatively straightforward, and the story is rather basic by PMD standards (it's the first one after all), but I've played it now, a week and a half on, more than any other game in the series. So what's so good about it?

Lots of things to do, with lots of varieties to do, but you can tackle each challenges at your own pace
Balanced gameplay that doesn't rely on RNG to be hard
"Breaking" the game is a plausible feat.
There are minor challenge where you're stripped off from "Breaking" the game, forcing you to play the game like a real Roguelike.
Few games where online social interaction is a
minor and healthy necessity since Norman Reedus' Funky Fetus in PS4

I have not played any MD game except of gates to infinity. Which I did not like and did not play for more than 4-5 hours. I know about the demo, but I know the game principles. so is DX better than blue rescue team? what i want from my mystery dungeon games is difficulty. it seems a lot of that has been cut from DX. also when i played the demo there was no regular no-move attack which was pretty important. currently replaying sky and enjoying getting raped by the zero isles every time i try, or getting 1 shot by that supereffective crit. if DX doesnt have that i dont want it

>>43069231 DX definitely made some bosses like Groudon and Rayquaza harder. On the flipside, it made the elemental birds easier.
