It sold well in the UK. Also, did you really expect a spin-off to have very high sales? Even the original games only sold around 2 million copies, Pokemon spin-offs have never been top sellers.

For games that have aged well, yeah, they are pointless.

However, GOOD remakes that put an old game on a newer engine with new mechanics are great.
