Toxtricity I guess? Can switch into pretty much anything but Life Orb Flamethrower but if it's Life Orb it's easier to wear down with other stuff anyway. Toxtricity even beats it without Sludge Wave if it's Throat Spray.

Gained Nasty Plot and Heavy-Duty Boots in gen 8 so not only can it pivot into stuff but also wallbreak, beats the other two best Pokemon in the tier 1v1, gained back shit like Toxic and Pain Split from Home so Pokemon that in theory could check it get screwed over and also one of the best Wish-abusers since it's already much harder to wear it down consistently with HDB.

Toxic it on the switch and it will eventually be put in range of +2 Overheat.
If you have a Clefable you don't even need to predict the switch, you can stay in and Toxic because Scald only does like half.

Avalugg has always had a smallish niche because it walls pretty much every physical attacker even if they can hit it super effectively and it shits out big damage with avalanche and now body press.
It's also a pretty decent spinner.

It's pretty weak outside of sun, which makes it's hurricane unusable.
Of course, you could use it on rain to hit hurricane guaranteed, but now your fire moves are unusable.
It's just awkward.

clefable can die to iron tail and DD on a free switch or pivot into rotom

haxorus resists both fire and electric and can hit it with EQ, thus limiting the damage from volt switches

S rank is never the most dangerous sweeper/wallbreaker, it's always a glue mon that's flexible enough to fit numerous roles.
In Gen VII, Lando and Heatran were S rank despite Ash-Greninja and Kartana being the best sweepers, while Primal Groudon was the best in Ubers despite Xerneas being the best sweeper.
In both cases, you needed to prepare for the sweeper threats at the team level, and the easiest way was to use the S-rank glue

Yes, it warps team building.
Yes, the meta would probably be better off without it.
But it's not gonna be as useful as Clefable or Rotom or Corviknight in the majority of matches.
Similarly, the only stuff that walls Kyurem are Clefable and SpDef Corviknight so it also will be subpar in many matchups because those are two of the best Pokemon in OU.

since Sand Rush Excadrill also takes 50%, it's not a check to Sand Rush Dracovish either.
the best option is Corviknight, who is OHKO'd by banded Fishious Rend.
like with Darmanitan-G, Sand Rush Dracovish doesn't have any safe switchins. It's all prediction.

Tyranitar is used by just about everyone because everyone loves to suck TTar's dick.
Cinderace is used because it's a fast fire type, and contrary to what sub-1300 elos say, fire is an extremely good typing in this steel and fairy dominated meta. Don't let sneaky pebbles meme tell you otherwise, Rotom H is also extremely amazing for the same reason.

desu I only enjoy watching them because I can play competently myself.
it's interesting to see how they formulate gameplans, what misplays led to a loss, and how they sometimes pilot some Pokemon completely differently from how i do.
plus I get to see more ladder battles without having to put effort into laddering so I feel like I get a better grasp of what's common.

Medicham's Zen Headbutt was a consistent 2HKO on defensive Clefable. People thought it was safe to switch into it but suddenly it wasn't so safe.

There's always weird low tier stuff that's viable in Ubers. The meta revolves so much around the handful of top mons that having any sort of unique way of dealing with them will make a mon viable.
In Sableye's case it uses priority will o wisp/encore/disable to prevent sweeps from Zacian, Darmanitan, Excadrill, Ditto etc even though it often dies in the process.

/vp/ doesn't seem to understand that tier and viability ranking are different things. Tiers are determined solely by usage, viability rankings are an informal resource more comparable to fighting game tier lists that explain what is good and what is not, and how good/bad they are. It exists mainly to help people teambuilding and provide snapshots of the meta, but it is not used as a basis to decide anything (for example a Pokémon doesn't have to be S rank to be banned, and being S rank doesn't automatically make it a suspect candidate).
