From the prey's perspective, they drift to sleep and wake up either nearby or at an earlier safe point like a place to rest. From the pred's, the prey-shaped bulge in my serpentine belly begins to soften, and some time after their death, they show back up somewhere and can be eaten, squeezed, fucked, cuddled, hunted, whatever - again. It's usually used as an "offscreen" reason my partner can keep playing their character and why we can discuss previous encounters, but occasionally it happens in-scene for the purposes of eating them again without having to spit them up - that works fine for larger preds like dragons, but snakes take awhile for that and my autism refuses to skip over it if it happens.
