>>43615800Played since gen 1 and had a great time until BW (i loved the games before them, they had great ambience with very explorable environments, nice pokemon, really good music, a mysterious world, and an adventure you can feel was your own since it had guidance subtle enough).
BW didn't feel like actual pokemon games: they had a different atmosphere, had boring environments, many ugly pokemon desperately trying to replace the old ones instead of being their own thing, a story that started interesting but ended in dissapointment, and their world didn't feel as natural, happy or interesting; like they were pokemon games trying to be a different franchise, one that was too dark, edgy and boring to be pokemon, i also hated the UI. I forced myself to finish BW, played for a while but didn't feel the connection and stopped playing except for when a tournament was close(many of my friends felt the same); after finding out BW2 did the same crap of having exclusive formes not available in older games but this time they weren't ubers but instead pokemon needed for competitive (those genies whose original designs i hate), i didn't even bother to buy them and stopped playing pokemon completely.
Then gen 6 came around and since my friends fell for the marketing campaign and were returning to pokemon i ended joining the hype and buying too. Those games felt more pokemon-like but had a barren postgame. I later bought ORAS for nostalgia and ended liking them more than i expected because of nostalgia, the dexnav, pss, secret bases and other generational qol changes but mainly the community since i had a lot of friends to play with (still hated that new megas couldn't be used in or against XY players).
In gen 7 we had the cutscene fest, it felt like pokemon but was dumbed down and very railroady, had many interesting concepts and pokemon there was no mystery or challenge. USUM were almost literally the same thing but with some new pokemon, i felt scammed.
