Anime characters not set in Japan can be easily interpreted as hispanic, like with Saint Seiya.
They probably loved the self-insert aspect, using Ash as their proxy and Serena as a cute Cuban girl.

Alola doesn't have an elite 4 or a champion. It's a backwater region that didn't have a league until ash arrived. He fought Kukui in an exhibition match and that's it.

For many years, Latinos consumed low-quality plot anime, so this formed a basis for what they believe to be a well-written protagonist; brave, unbeatable, with power-ups out of the ass. Also for years, like others, they are obsessed with Ash growing up and in its vision this XY Ash was a teenager, not being able to understand the basis of the product, a commercial for a children's videogame that is constantly renewed and that occasionally gives fanservice for its old audience. As if that were not enough, they are obsessive shippers, the fact that a character remains single or gets a partner outside their social circle is difficult for them to understand, I still remember how they reacted at the end of Naruto and Bleach. Let's wait to see their reaction with the end of AoT.

I really hope that someday that if there's a gen 9 Pokemon anime and Ash is still the main character, that the producers will resume the main story and bring back the anime drawing style that they used to create XY + XY&Z! People only come back during Kalos League because they believe Ash will win the league this time only for the anime to troll them which led to biggest social media backlash.

To make matter worst, the anime made Alain the hero that also rescue Chespin to stop the Megalith and got new job that would allow him to build a team of mega evolved pokemon while Ash was forced to release Greninja to fix Alain's mess.

XY was a boring humorless series with flashy animation who only hype fans to troll them in a worst way possible.

Karimero takes are terrible. His SM review is just full of nonsense.
He is the typical person that calls XY Ash a gary stu and complains about him getting power ups, but for some reason acts like SM didn't do the same and worse.

This is the worst revisionism SM fans always do. Recurring characters have been a thing in the anime since forever. Just because there was COTDs doesn't mean there was no other secondary characters. Mallow didn't have any real development, Sophocles the same, Guzma popped up lately in the series, Hau had literally one chapter before the League started and left, Ulu was one of the worst COTDs in Pokémon history, that monkey-looking rich guy was just a living joke and all the other COTDs are forgetable.

Headcanon : There are no champion on Kanto, instead there are only winners of Elite Four Cup. Its similar to "Island Challenge Champion" on Alola.

This was also confirmed on LGPE where Prof Oak explained that Kanto had no "Champion" position and people who defeated the Elite 4 simply referred as Champions.

Expectation : Ash re-participate at the Indigo League (since he already has the badges) and wins the current years Elite 4 cup.

reddit is definitely more pro Serena than any other place I've seen. twitter really prefers SM/Lillie or past girls, and the forums are a mix of old fans and new ones.

On reddit however Serena dominates nearly ever poll, with a mix of Misty or Dawn getting the second highest votes. Usually May comes after that which triggers me greatly.

I actually was there when the sub was created, I left because amourshippers were tiresome. This is the third sub, this first one was r/anipoke then r/pokeani and finally this. by pokemon anime standards (low) and compared to others I'd say very near as you can get

Ive thought about it before and I could change things about D&P anime it would be:
- Dawns Ambipom never leaves and possibly never evolves from Aipom
- more consistent rules/explanation about contest battles points
- more Ursula
- Tobias hinted at/cameo'd/develop earlier on and his battle vs Ash is at least 2 episodes + its the final, not semi-final
- Dawn beats Zoey but doesnt win the GF (basically same as May)
- maybe something else minor I forgot (I want to give Brock more, but not at Dawns screentime expense lol .. maybe ~several Dawn-Brock bonding episodes)

but I really would not change anything at all major about Dawn herself/how they wrote her etc.

Being fair, Fate itself has had some changes even though it started as VNs. It's been relatively more family friendly (an example being the penis worms not looking like penises anymore). Well, FGO anyway. I know Zero, Stay, and Apocrypha still have some stuff but it's not so in your face about it. Prisma Illya though, yeah, that's going further since normal(Stay) Illya is 18 even though she's stuck in a loli body. Prisma Illya is basically Komodo no Jikan.

I mean just look at the final roster for the league. Lillie, a character who just became a trainer mere months ago and also has one NFE made top 16. Out of all the most skilled trainers in alola a rookie of the worst kind made top 16. Just imagine if Serena and her paltry little fucking fokko decided "imma enter the league" and was just allowed to bypass all requirements and make top 16. Also said league has no 6v6s because effort wasn't on the menu that day. Wouldn't that be insane?

And that's the crux of what made SM so shit. It sacrificed everything for it's overcrowded main character roster.

Battle quality? offered up.
Overarching narrative? with the exception of kukui (the only good thing in the show, offered up
Humor? Can't have one character be the "funny one" and show up the rest of the cast so it's offered up
And most importantly that sense of adventure every prior season has had? sasageyo sasageyo!

But hey at least we get wacky faces and tonal whiplash.
