If they do fix in-battle sizes then it'll come at the cost of something else. They'll probably take away the trainers behind the Pokémon or remove any instance of a controllable camera. They can't have too many features in one game, you know. That'll make the previous ones look bad.

What really baffles me is that they already have this shit figured out in previous games, just fucking copypaste the code for big pokemon and following from lgpe, copypaste the code for controllable camera from swsh and thats fucking it

overworld pokemon =/= in-battle pokemon
for some reason the pokemon are in the correct scale in the overworld but not in-battle
fun fact: Digimon Cyber Sleuth has the exact opposite issue, whereas Digimon appear shrunk in the overworld but in a more accurate scale in-battle

The overworld models aren't the problem, it's the in-battle models.

It's especially funny with Eternatus, who is a massive monster when you fight him, but then turns into a little worm when you use him in battle.

Fix that eye texture mapping and positioning issues then make the camera move around more instead of defaulting to that static over-the-shoulder angle every time the player has the controls and it'd be perfect. Even as it is blocking out the screen half the time, while not a great experience long term, still actually helps with getting the sense of scale of just how massive that wailord is and given that dyna/gigantamax is mostly just "lulz, GIANT POKEYMANZ haha so funny!" meme trash to make the dumb kids feel crazy op and have a laugh it would probably achieve Game Freak's goals even better than the tiny battle scaling.

Of course, they wouldn’t be able to dmax, it makes sense that you couldn’t dmax your wailoard in a real stadium, it simply wouldn’t fit. And Eternatus can’t dmax anyway

I thought that the size thing was a problem with animations than anything else, but this thread made me realize that it was probably clipping issues. I think the best solution anyway is to make a size tier that's double the size of the trainer for every pokémon that bigger than that, it would still be inaccurate but it wouldn't be as jarring as it is right now .

I hope that the next generation improvement to battles is that they can have the field you're standing in as a background (like Dragon Quest XI) I hate that there's no street background in SS.

Nah, pokémon don't dynamax proportionate to their size, the size of all dynamaxed pokémon is the same. Dynamax Wailord would just be slightly larger than regular Wailord.

That image is from someone encountering a "wild" Eternatus, so it's "real" in the sense that it appears that way in-battle. You have to have a modded Switch to change overworld pokemon spawn rate like that.

Eternatus is fucking MASSIVE in the overworld bc it's scaled correctly there, but in-battle it looks wimpy and small.

Depends. Game Freak put some focus in scaling in LGPE. If Gen 9 are being developed right now, then it makes sense for the scaling and following Pokemon options from LGPE, which started development in 2017 iirc, to also be present.
