It's weird, because the other characters are fully aware of how idiotic it is, even Leon goes "IN A THOUSAND YEARS!!" while talking to him, being in complete awe of Rose's insistence. I once read a theory on here that the deadline was supposed to be the villain, not Rose, and that the story is a miniature writer-revolt by game freak that's basically screaming at people "rushing things to hit a deadline is fucking retarded". It was made to have Rose look retarded on purpose because Rose is supposed to be a stand-in for TPC: a corporate douche who's demanding things be rushed and done as soon as possible so he can get all the glory for "fixing the problem".

I honestly wish I'd saved a screencap because while it was a tinfoil-hat level of thinking I can buy it anyways.

Seems like gamefreak saw the evil released in 1000 years cliche and decided to copy that without realizing that you most games that do that start the game on year 995-999 and often have the villains speed up the timer.

The second Paper Mario game did the same thing because the game never really made it obvious that the door was going to open and release the evil with or without the stars. So Mario just looks like an idiot for opening the door for everybody.

Gen 8 doesn't cost $150. It costs $90 at the very most. Paying for online has been a thing since 2002, and you don't need home for shit. If you're playing on a console in 2020 you're very likely paying the same price for any game with dlc that you would for gen 8
