How long do you think this service will last? Bank was dropped after just two generations despite being announced as something that'd be used for many future gens

Bank will be dropped when 3DS intraweb services end, I reckon it still has about 2-3 years max.

Home will be abandoned when Nintendo moves on the 5DS and repackaged as another service again.

It functionally is just Pokemon Bank 2.0. It'll probably last until they make Pokemon Bank 3.0.

Pokemon Bank as it is surely will die at some point. It's possible they change it to make a direct transfer to pokemon Home, which will be shitty if you want to play with your mons in other versions.

I think Home will last longer then Bank simply because of the Smartphone App and Go compatibility, the main deal that fucked Bank was probably the Nintendo ID rework coupled with the 3DS getting old making it just much more viable to make a new Service then patch.

I swear I remember them saying that Bank was going to have software on other platforms like Nintendo home consoles and the PC. It was supposed to be a storage service for all time, hence why you were gifted a Celebi.

The Bank program on the 3DS would always have to be abandoned in favor of a smartphone app that could communicate with multiple future consoles eventually. I believe they changed the name from Bank to Home to make it seem "new" and so they could also hike up the subcription fee.

GF wants you to pay for both Bank and Home, so it they add in a new one, they will want you to pay for it and keep paying for Home and Bank.
