Why am I supposed to like older games when they have completely lack newer features, have an outdated pokedex and have no gimmick to make the battles interesting after 25 hours of gameplay?

Because it's all essentially the same gen 5 and onwards without the new bells and whistles like gimmicks and awful 3d models. Solo game was arguably better and more fleshed out, but you don't want to hear that so I'll tell you to go play showdown instead if you want to battle online. It's on par with all the Mario side scrollers that came out after new super Mario bros.

No, gen 1 was a clumsy first step. Gen 5 was the last time a core pokemon trait that every pokemon has was ultered as a gimmick in HAs through Dream world. The other gimmicks are not core to every mon except maybe Z moves, which aren't a thing as of yet. USUM was a step in the right direction with improved Totem battles and RR, but of course GF is oblivious to it because it does not show in their more recent titles.

Core mechanics solidified in gen 4. HAs are just a third ability slot, and triple/rotation battles never caught on. But you're right about gen 6 and beyond.

HAs were what made some pokemon more useful or otherwise viable, but regardless you are right about everything else you've posted. I'd also like to say that Battle Royale were literally unplayable for me with the obvious lag.

More like gen 4 and onwards; gen 5 was basically gen 4 2.0 mechanically. Gen 6 at least altered the type chart and made more passive type bonuses.
