There are certain Pokémon who ironically are never celebrated or talked about, specifically because they're so well liked. There's usually little to discuss about them. Kinda like how some kids in school are popular and have loads of "friends" but no real closeness with anybody.

Discuss Pokémon who never get discussed because they ARE popular, not because they're not.

Gyarados is my all time favorite pokemon. I always have to fight the urge to use it in my playthroughs because I use it so much and sometimes want to try something else.

...but they were perfectly fine before the split? Gyarados was well tuned and optimized in Gen 3 and before, it was OU. Nowadays zoomers just slap on physical water STAB mindlessly HURRRRF DUURRRRF ME NO CRITICAL THINKEY ME JUST USE STABS
Heck, Gyarados was better off pre-split, as it had Hidden Power Flying, and what does it have now? Fucking Bounce?

Most Pseudos just kind of exist outside of competitive. Specifically Dragonite, Metagross, and Salamence. All are reasonably popular by default, but none really get attention from Gamefreak or fans.

Gyarados is an easy example but I'm trying to think of other implicitly popular Pokemon outside of starters and marketing darlings. Would Bronzong count? Nicely implemented theme, fairly prominent via Team Galactic and Lucian, useful typing and somewhere between a tank and a wall. Or maybe I just like the two a lot, which I do.

Pikachu was my first starter and one of my all time favorite pokemon. Pikachu with a light ball is one of the funnest ways to play through the main game in almost every game.

I would say a lot of your Gen 1 pokemon that arent in your top tier of popularity (Charizards, Mewtwos, Pikachus, ect...). Examples such as Cloyster, Scyther, Tentacruel, Sandslash.

Where have you been the past 2 gens? Even before Dynamax, Flynium-Z Gyarados was the most prominent non-Mega set. Bounce is core on Gyarados despite how shit it is.
