That is okay. Everyone can have their own mindless hobbies. It’s not like it’s any worse than watching tv or YouTube videos or whatever. Or doing both at the same time.
I prefer cheating though, as long as it’s getting results that one could get through spending the time breeding. All it does is save time.

like this guy said, I don't hate the mechanic but it's not at all engaging, so how can I like it? I honestly think they should tie breeding and egg hatching and shit to real time and you have the option of speeding it up through some sort of more hands on approach, that way people who don't wanna deal with all the grindy bits and are more patient can breed easily too
