Unless you actually know how to build them, soloing the games with the starters isn't as easy as /vp/ likes to meme.
Gen 1, usually Misty, Lt. Surge, or at least one member of the E4 fucks you over, gen 2 will do it with Azalea Rival, Whitney, and Lance, gen 3 will do it with Brawley, Rival 3, Flannery, Winona, Drake, and Steven, gen 4 will do it with Roark, Windworks admin, Hearthome Rival, Final Cyrus, Maylene if you do her first, Bertha, and Cynthia, and gen 5 will do it with Gym 1 if you don't get the monkey, Lenora, Clay, Dragon Leader, Fighting E4, and of course Ghestis.
Gen 6 was the first game that practically beat itself, a trend that has continued ever since, with the only omission going to Ultra Necrozma in USUM.
